So, I think I’ve finally decided on a style that I love. I originally wanted all diamond and then I didn’t like anything we looked at at all. So I thought, maybe I’m not a diamond kind of girl. Fell in love with the idea of a peach sapphire with a diamond halo in rose gold but the more I think about it, I really want the traditional diamond ring.
I’ve decided on a micro pavé band with a cushion cut diamond. I’m back and forth on the idea of a halo. I’m liking a 1 carat diamond but I’m willing to go higher if it is in the price range and doesn’t totally engulf my finger. Anyone with a similar ring size have a ring along these lines and care to share?
I still have some time to figure this all out. He mentioned that the latest we would be getting engaged is March but he wants to go ring hunting again next weekend so I’m trying to have all my ducks in a row. The last time he mentioned budget it was $7000 and I know we can get a beautiful ring for that or less. 🙂

I’m a size 6.25-6.5 and have just under a CT center stone. My ring is a 0.82 center diamond with a total carat weight of 1.1, and it cost about $6k because the center stone is a pretty high quality diamond. I also tried on some rings from Berricle when I was having some ring regret so I can give you an idea of what a halo would look like too. All of the ones I tried on were round stones though, but I hope this is helpful for seeing what size you like and if you would want a halo.
Also, I highly recommend ordering a few options from Berricle or trying them on at a jeweler to see if you like the size. I found this ring (http://www.berricle.com/jewelry-sterling-silver-925-cushion-cut-cubic-zirconia-right-hand-halo-ring-r429.htm) that sounds exactly like what you are looking for. They also have solitare cushion cuts as well.

A 1.46 Ct CZ Cathedral Setting (inside) next to my 0.82 CT e-ring (also Cathedral setting; outside):

That is very helpful! This is the one I’m loving the most right now and I think it would look lovely with a 1 carat:

However, I also love this one without a halo:

There are too many beautiful choices out there!

operaninja: Both of those are gorgeous. The halo setting is very similar to my e-ring (but without a halo). It is a high setting so I bang it on things sometimes, but I love the European shank (that is that flattened bottom shape instead of the round shape). It helps to prevent spinning (although it will spin occasionally, especially if I bang it on something like a table accidentally).
I’m glad you found my pictures helpful too!
