My fiance had my ring insured before even giving it to me, and also got home insurance raised for it.

@Soon2BStockhausen:  I am putting my ring on my insurance and it is about 25-30 dollars a year for a 7000.00 ring.

it didn’t go on my home insurance.  my ring has it’s own separate insurance.  it’s around $20/month.

My ring was added to our home insurance! It costs us an extra $54 a year.

I insured my ring through Jeweler’s Mutual (got really good reviews).  It’s $40 a year for $3000 of coverage with a $100 deductible.  Our home insurance company (State Farm) actually advised us to use a jewelry insurer because they do it all the time and the process for recovery is way simpler.

If you cannot readily afford to go get yourself a new ring, car, house, etc, then you should carry insurance on it.

Mine is insured as a seperate jewelry policy through statefarm.  It is about $9 a month with an 11k replacement value.
