@SpecialSundae: Oh I didn’t by any means mean that yours isn’t valuable!

It can be because we live in London as well but I called around insurers for a whole day and struggles to find one that would cover my ring. It was crazy! One guy actually told me that it is difficuly to get insurance on any ring with a value of more that £3k which i was really surprised to hear. I didn’t in any way meant to offend anyone. x

@MrsGo: I’m getting mine revalued because I wasn’t happy with the one my fiance got last year, but it’s well over £3k… We’re with RAC and they’ve been amazing about having at as a named item insured at full value worldwide under our insurance. It may well be worth getting a quote from them next time you’re renewing your contents insurance.

@SpecialSundae: Thanks, I’ll check it out next year. And have it revalued if you aren’t happy with it, especially now that gold has gone up so much in price!

£600 per year, really? About what value of ring does this cover? I have more than £10,000 of camera equipment insured for about £300 per year, and that’s expensive, so this seems insane! Will be super interested to hear if any bees have other suggestions. (:

@Miss Dee: I love your avatar. My Fiance gave me the first Simon’s Cat book pre-publication as a “just because” gift when he was doing some IT support at the publishers (because he knew I loved Simon’s Cat).

@MrsGo: I’m going to go back to the jeweller who valued it in 2006. They’re experts in antique jewellery, whereas the guy we used this time wasn’t. He actually valued it at £350 LESS than the previous valuation that had been done 4 years before (with the ring in the same condition).

@SpecialSundae: Yes, I’m an Edinburgh girl, too, and love Bonnar’s 😉

@Tessa931: Have you been to Goodwins? Not quite as pretty as Bonnar’s, but they have some lovely things. They always did the valuations on my grandma’s ring before the duff one we got just before he proposed. I’m going in on Saturday to drop my Bohemian garnets off for maintenance before the wedding. Sadly Bonnars only do maintenance and repairs on items they sold.

@SpecialSundae:

Simon’s Cat will always get a giggle out of me… and I’ll settle with watching his youtube clips until I finally get to get another cat 🙂
