Hi bees,
I recently got my engagement ring that I looooove. I’m obsessed with it however, it does give me a slight muffin top despite the fact that it isn’t too tight at all. We went to the jewler to talk about resizing it and he highly recommended going DOWN a size even, since it is a little bit too easy to slide off my finger. I won’t be sizing it down, but sizing it up a bit is also apparently out of the question too. I’m just so self conscious of my little muffin top though. It’s definitely not as bad as it was with all the thicker bands i tried but it’s still enough to make me a little paranoid. Has anyone found a solution to this or do I just suck it up since I have stubby fingers?
Thanks!

I definitely do! My ring size is a 6.5.. But I wear a 7 because my fingers are short and stumpy. But… It has fallen off my finger at work… In the snow… Etc.
I don’t think yours is as bad as you think 🙂
Maybe talk to a jeweler about going up a size… But then putting in sizing beads? Maybe that might keep it snug… Without pushing your skin up.

My fingers are like that too! I honestly just suck it up. My ring comes off and goes on like it should, I just have chubby fingers.

Can you seek a second opinion?
I think it looks too small/tight.

My ring does that too, it’s just part of having fingers the same width as your knuckle. My ring literally takes less than a second to pull off but I still have a tiny “muffin top.” If I were to size up my ring would just fall off and I am personally not willing to take that risk.

I have sausage fingers and I swell easily lol. I have learned to live with my ring muffin top. I actually wear a size 5, but I resized the ring at 5.5 so that it doesn’t look too horrible 😌

crystaleena : Thanks for the idea, I’ve been to a couple of jewelers but it’s definitely not too small, it’s already a bit looser than I already would already like 🙁
I guess I’m just going to deal with it and accept that’s it just the way things are.. hahah

It looks fine. If you size up it might slip off. Or just spin around your finger too.

bethanyjames : It’s jus the way your fingers are shaped. I have tapered fingers too. There is nothing you can do about it.
You could consider sizing up and getting sizing beads, but I’m not sure how secure that would be. My impression is that people usually do that to give themselves more room if their fingers swell a lot.
crystaleena : Some people have finger shapes where the bottom part of the finger is the same width as (or less wide than) the knuckle. You can see that OP’s fingers are shaped this way from her photo. This means that the knuckle won’t keep the ring on.
The ring has to hang onto something, or it’s totally going to fall off. Either the bottom part of the finger (causing a muffin top look) or the knuckle. And if the knuckle is the same width as the bottom part of the finger, there will always be a muffin top. It’s just how some people’s fingers are shaped.

I remember exactly the same conversation like yours to jewelers after my engagement too! My fingers are very similar to yours, and the jewelers all suggested going a size smaller if I want to resize it.
Rest assure it’ll form a natural grove after a while, and you’ll be more comfortable wearing it. Just make sure you take good care of not losing it while/after washing hands when you’re drying your hands.
Congratulations by the way!!! X

I have nothing constructive to say except your nail polish is beautiful and your ring is gorgeous!

Gorgeous ring! My ring does that too. And it’s worse when you hold your hand flat, but honestly, how often is your hand flat like that? I remind myself my fingers typically have some sort of bend in them, which means the ring looks fine…no muffin top.

I have a size 3 tight finger and I have a mini muffin top too so I don’t think it’s due to the size of the finger.. and with the 3 tight ring, it still spins a little sometimes so I don’t think anything can be done about it
