Guys. I don’t often post but I’m PUMPED and can’t share with anyone in real life just yet… How do I know this? Because I BE A CONTROL FREAK and wanted “in” on the entire process, lest my dude picks I ring I hate. Anywhoodles, I’m so excited!!
Any other “waiting” gals totally in on the diamond shopping-ring-designing process? The only problem? I’m now CUT OFF from any further information, like… when’s it coming? How he plans to do it?? Are the rents involved? GAH! Share please so I don’t go even more bonkers than I already am!!! xo

Aww, that so exciting. Really pleased for you. I love going ring shopping.
I know about my ring. He let me pick it. But, I don’t when he’s going to propose. He has hinted that it’ll be in NYC when we’re on holiday (9 months) away!!!
Love and hugs from other waiting bee!

That’s so exciting!! Picking out the ring is so fun!
I’m in a somewhat similar situation. My SO and I went ring shopping and while I had 2-3 I liked, I fell in love with a specific one. We had the sales lady write down all the info so all he had to do is go buy it. Now, I’m pretty positive that’s what he did, but he could surprise me.
After the ring shopping, I had to hand over total control of the situation to him. This was extremely difficult because I have a really hard time no being in control. My parents “know” when he’s going to propose and had no problem letting me know that I needed to be patient since they apparently knew the date.
Long story short, my SO thinks he’s being really sneaky and planning everything without me knowing. Unfortunately I know him too well. He picked out 8/8 to hike a 14er. We love the mountains and I can’t see him proposing anywhere else. 8 is his favorite/lucky number. He told me to take off 8/8 back in April. He doesn’t usually plan that far in advance. He keeps checking with me to make sure I got that day off from work. I also know he bought the ring because I went to get the mail and found a statement from the jewelry store. Oops! I put it back and acted like I didn’t know. However, he’s obsessed about getting the mail now.
I’m lucky that I picked up on the subtle things he was doing because it makes me feel like I somehow have some little bit of contorl. It’s still hard though!
Before I figured all that out, I kept telling myself that it was really important to him that he have control of this particular situation and I needed to let go. After that, I was able to settle down.
Hope you don’t have to wait too long!!

@kmconda: I was all in on the ring process. Do you feel like anyone judged you? My mom thought I was being really selfish and that I shouldn’t have known. I think it is horrible that they make the first big purchase all by themselves with no idea what you like! I want to love it. 🙂

I was involved in the ring proccess as well. Fiance suprised me by added a sweet engaving iside of the band but otherwise we contacted the jeweller together, he let me pick exactly what I wanted.. it was great. The process of choosing the ring and convincing him I did not really want a diamond…. took a few months! LOL.
I was told that once the ring arrived I would not know where it was or how long I would have to wait to get it. Turns our Fiance was just as excited/impatient as I was and proposed to me the day it arrived!

@polkadotbee: Glad I’m not the only one! Eh, my parents and family know me too well and didn’t have a problem with it…. surprisingly, it was the JEWELERS themselves who continually gave me the stank-eye! I was totally caught off-guard, thinking it was “normal” to go shopping together! And I’m with you– this ring will be on my hand FOREVER and I had better LOVE the heck out of it…especially for the price, ya know?? The guys shouldn’t totally control the situation! It’s bad enough they get to decide when/where they’ll propose! 🙂

I am in the exact same boat! We have been in talks with the Natural Sapphire Company for a month now. They sent us a stone to preview, we loved it, and just sent it back a few days ago. Tomorrow SO is calling them to talk to them about the setting. From here on out, I’m cut off! I know exactly what the ring will look like since I designed it, but I won’t know when it’s made, when it gets here, or when I’ll get it or how! I’m so excited! 🙂
