TheLadyA:  I’ve used the Branson for about 8(?) years. Before this, I had another smaller machine (I can’t remember the brand.) I also had the type of cleaner with a pink liquid w/ a built-in basket that dipped into the the plastic jar.

I bought the new one because the first ultrasonic stopped working after about 7 months(?). I’m glad it happened because the Branson cleans jewelry so well. I was amazed! It’s much larger than my old one so I can clean several items at once. I usually put smaller things like rings & earrings inside of a mesh tea infuser and then place that into the basket.

I use hot water and one drop of dishwashing liquid (i mix this in a cup first and pour it into the tank) or I spray the jewelry (only gold, diamonds, sapphires, garnets…i don’t put in my softer stones) with window cleaner and add hot tap water to the machine. There are special ultrasonic cleaning solutions available but I haven’t bothered to try them yet.

It’s been super-convenient (I typically use it about 2x week) and I’ve had no problems so far. I have read that there are certain items(softer and/or heavily-included stones, some vintage/antique pavé pieces etc?) that shouldn’t be cleaned this way so double-check with a jeweler first. I hope this helps!
