I think 1 carat would be plenty. I am just under 7 and my 1 looks huge.

It sounds like you have been trying rings on, and that is the best thing you can do. No one can tell you the best size for you because everyone’s opinions are so different. For example, I wear a size 5.5 and I prefer larger stones (around 2-2.5ct). I never thought I would like such large stones on my finger, but I found out I did when I went to try on rings. Some people think this is too large for my finger size, and others may think it is still small. You should just try a variety of sizes on and see what stands out as the perfect range for you.

I was going to say a carat would probably be ideal, but only if its in the budget!!!

1 ct tends to look great on any size finger, IMO, but i think a .75 would look great as well!

@MrsNerdy:  I agree. I don’t know many people personally who have a 1ct diamond….so anything from .5ct I would consider to be pretty darn large.

I think it’s more the setting than the center stone. I have VERY long fingers and large hands. Me and my Fiance picked out a very delicate thin diamond band, and the diamond just looked lost. People woudl tell me how “cute” my ring was. We ended up trading the setting in for a thicker setting and now I get compliments from strangers all the time! My center stone never changed, but somehow the thicker setting really made a difference.
