Oh no I hope that feeling doesnt come back!! I ADORE emerald cuts, all step cut stones actually.  But I really wanted a yellow diamond and yellow emerald cut stones are rare and expensive.  So I have a bright cushion but sometimes I do dream of an emerald or asscher, not to replace mine but in addition to it.

Aw, I am sorry you are feeling this way! I think its easier to get these thoughts when you are on weddingbee & seeing everyone’s gorgeous rings! Yah know? I picked out a marquise solitaire. But still yet everytime I see a princess cut , emerald or round I drooooool! ๐Ÿ˜›

I love my ring for me though. Once you get it & start wearing it, see how you feel then!

I just actually took back my wedding band. :O Yes, I know. haha It was a diamond band so for that fact I adored it. But it wasn’t THE diamond band I really wanted. It was channel set & I wanted pave or prong. So my husband & I exchanged it. Easy fix. ๐Ÿ˜› (BTW I am still waiting for it in the mail. Errggg, it is so strange without having a wedding band on.) Undecided

I am the queen of second guessing myself. After we picked out my upgrade I had to wait 4 days for it to be resized and I bugged!! Did we make the right choice? Did we spend too much? Is it too big? Should we have gone the custom route? It didn’t help the fact that for the first time in 14 months I had a naked finger (we traded in my old one.) Once I got my ring on my finger, I was in love all over again.

Try to relax, you made the right decision!! It’s easy to forget how beautiful it is when you can’t actually see it. I hope you don’t have to wait too long for it.

By The Way emeralds a stunning, my mom has one and it’s super sparkly and looks a lot bigger than a princess or round of the same weight.

Haha, oh my, I completely relate. I love my ring, really, but  my style & mood changes practically day to day. I honestly imagine I’ll acquire quite a few rings to wear on my left hand depending on my mood. Of course, I’ll always have my original, but it is fun to switch it up every now & then.

You are not alone. I picked out my own ring too. I told myself I’m pretty plain (t shirt and jeans) so I want my ring plain also. Just a center round cut diamond with 3 smaller ones on each side.

Then I come here and looked at all the ring porn and totally envied all the princess cuts with halos

and sometimes I wish I went with a more unique vintage ring. (A ring that ppl would gasp and say Oh wow! What a pretty ring, so unique!) but in the end I am happy with my plain ol’ ring. It is so me!

I think everything will be fine and that you should stick with your first instinct. I’m sure the waiting for the proposal may be what’s killing you. I know it was torture for me! LOL

I second guess everything, but I think once you get to look at that emerald cut every day you’ll love it!

I bet once you get that ring on your finger you will be happier than ever about your choice!

From the sounds of it there is a reason why you picked an emerald in the first place and from the way you so happily described it, it sounds just gorgeous! I would say brush off that dream and stick with the emerald cut. Maybe lay off the ring boards a bit til he proposes too? I know i drove myself crazy once I picked out a ring second, third, and fourth guessing myself haha.

Please share the big news and pics of your beautiful sounding ring when he does propose too!

Other cuts may be a bit more sparkly but a LOT can be said for something like an emerald cut that you don’t see everyday!!! On other women, unique rings catch my eye more than something sparkly (well…unless its abnormally large – ha ha!!). Be confident in your choice since you love emerald cuts and that was your first instinct! Maybe think of the princess or rb for another piece of jewelry down the road ๐Ÿ™‚

I do the same thing when I look at other people who have a princess/cushion. Then I see my brilliant cut sparkle and remember why I picked a round cut in the first place.

When you see your ring again, it’ll all come rushing back. I had the same thing. I had doubts, then went to go visit it in the store a couple of days before Fiance bought it, and I felt much better.
