I honestly don’t think your mother should have any say in this, even if she is paying. Before you make any decisions you should get quotes from jewelers about the custom band idea because I think it’s freaking awesome!!!! Then make a decision once you have all the information you need. ๐Ÿ™‚

First off let me say your e-ring is gorgeous! Second, if they are making noises that means they are rubbing together. Not a good thing, esp. since they are two different metals! If the wedding band metal is stronger than your e-rings metal it can scratch it up! Maybe you could either get the matching band (if you AND your husband are okay with this) now then get the custom band for the vow renewal/reception. Or you could get a plain white gold band (or whatever metal your e-ring is) to match & wait on the band your husband wants to make for next year.

A marriage is between 2 people and one of them is you, but the other is DEFINATLEY not your mother.  Her opinion should not be taken into consideration here. This is between you and your HUSBAND.

@NessaNessa:  You should def talk to him some more. Let him know your e-ring is so special & you guys spent some $ on it for a reason, to have it forever! I have seen the beautiful design on your ring on the side & mention to him that could be ruined completely if the tungsten band scratches it! A plain gold band can be bought for under 100 dollars online!

I like matching, but that’s me, and also what I picked for myself

Put your wedding band on your right hand and buy a cheap stand-in wedding band or a plain gold band to wear with your e-ring for now.  Get started on the stargate ring, that’s awesome and sounds like it’s what you both want.

No one here can give you the “right” answer. You need to sit back for a minute and think, without any thoughts of your husband or mother, about which ring YOU picture wearing in 1, 2, 10, 50 years from now. Ultimately you are the one who will be wearing it and it’s not fair for other to try to persuade your opinion based on the fact that it’s what you mother wants or what your husband wants. Get what YOU want because you will be the one who has to wear it and look at it everyday.
