So for those of you following I became engaged this chirstmas. After opening presents and eating breakfast he kept hinting that there might be one more gift. After a while I forgot about it until suddenly he got down on both his knees and asked me to be his wife. I was floored! The ring has been in his family for 100 or so years.
I went to a jeweler in town and he told me that I should treat it as a family heirloom and not wear it except for special days. Also that all the stones needed prongs and I had to find a specialized jeweler to fix it. He also could tell me nothing.
Dalzell’s!!!! They work with old jewelry all the time and even were able to tell me more about the ring! They told me the stone size and the material as well as a great price to fix the prongs. Better yet they said after they fix it I can wear it day to day (still not wearing it to work with all the gloves I’m putting on and taking off). They also told me about the stones (real diamond and sapphires).
In 2 weeks I’ll have it back and appraised. The owner wasn’t in but when I come back he’ll be able to tell me the era it was made. My finger feels empty but I’m so happy that I’ll be able to wear it and not lose my beautiful diamond!!!
