Hi! I’m new here and need help. I have a question for anyone who’s gotten their rings resized. Was there a mark, like a line, left where the ring was put back together? I just had my rings resized and I notice a line now on the ring. Thanks for your help!

No – I do not have any sort of line. What type of metal is your ring?

That happened to my friend’s ring. I think it depends on the skill of the jewler? It doesn’t always happen.

It’s 18 karat white gold. Do you think I should bring it back to the jeweler to fix or would that make the ring weaker?

Was it sized up or down? If sized up, it may as they added metal (rather than simply thinned out shank) and the alloy they used does not match precisely. If they sized down, it may be as the solder they used to solder the cut also is not matching or the best solder for your particular rings.
I had my old 18k unplated palladium white gold rings resized up a couple times. One time they just thinned the shank, but another time they added metal and it WAS a bit darker leaving a 1-1.5 mm darker band. It was on bottom of ring though so did not bother me and was not that noticeable unless I was really looking for it.
I am assuming they are not rhodium plated (rhodium plating would mean you would not see the line).
If they sized down, I would go back and ask them to resolder. If they sized up, you would need to get them redone and I am not sure if it is worth it (may be to you though) as too much work on your rings is not always a great idea. Or send them back to the original manufacturer or vendor who can better “match” things.

i had one ring resized and it had a darker grey line where it was resized, if it bothers you you should go back or just have it cleaned maybe itll look polished after

I had a ring sized up, and there is no way I can tell. There’s no line, no difference in the metal, nothing. I would go back and ask them to fix it.

I would go back and make them do someething to fix it. There’s no excuse for a line to show after resizing.

I have sized my 14k whites a couple times and I never had a line…they did rhodium plate mine when they were done so I dont know if that hid it or not 🙁

My bf has bought the ring we chose it together then we broke up for a short time. He took it back and now he has bought it again. They didnt have it in my size. So they have to make a new one in my size. He wont tell me how long its going tontake does anyone know? I am impatient and cant wait for him to propose. We r already talking about the wedding. Hoping for march next year. I just want to know an estimate of when I might expect it.
