I have pretty thin fingers but larger knuckles, and when my fiance proposed, the ring was size 4.5. I thought it fit perfectly then, but soon I realized that it was too big. I got it resized to a 4.25, although the jeweler thought a 4.0 would have been better. This was in August, and throughout the winter I noticed my ring was often too loose and spun. I attributed it to the cooler weather, but now that it is spring, the ring still spins and often moves down to my knuckle. Today, I tried shaking my hand to see if it would come off, and it did! I was a little terrified – I don’t want to lose my ring. But at the same time, there have been days where it’s warmer outside and the ring fits perfectly (I hate tight jewelry).
So in your all’s experience, what is the best solution? Resize to a 4.0? Get a resizing band/those little balls soldered on?
Another question: my fiance and I no longer live in the city where he purchased the rings – would getting my ring resized or something elsewhere void the warranty?

i think you would have to call the original store you purchased it from and ask the second question to them.
But to answer the first, my ring fits perfectly in most weather, but is a little tight occasionally in really hot weather, or right now because i’m pregnant haha. It’s never uncomfortably tight, and it never looks too tight. I HATE when my ring spins and feels too big. I would much rather have it a little snug in hot weather. If it were mine, i would get it resized, especially since it came off when you shook your hand. But if you hate it to be snug, you could always get those bishop bumps (i think they’re called) soldered on to keep it from spinning. honestly, if it already flew off your finger, i think it would be best to go down in size a little.

If it flies off, I would say its too big! Mine is a 4.5. I could probably use a 4.25 where the ring actually lies, but need the 4.5 for my knuckle. Mine doesn’t go anywhere despite how much I shake my hand when the weather is warm. I’m a bit more careful in the winter. Most jewelry stores should have sizer band on a ring or individual rings at different sizes. As for the warranty, I’d call the place you originally bought it and see if they have any problems with your sizing it elsewhere.

I honestly would leave it the size that it is because if in the summer it fits just right, if you size it down to a 4 it might be too tight.
Do you have a wedding band yet? Because if you do, you could have your wedding band be a little tighter so that it can keep your engagement ring on when it is a bit looser.
