My boyfriend just proposed this past Friday and I am really excited! Unfortunately, I’m also kind of clueless about some things… like how to get the ring resized. It’s quite a bit too big – it’s a size 6, but I’m guessing that it probably needs to be 1-2mm smaller in diameter in order to fit on my ring finger (as opposed to other finger where I’m wearing it now). Can you just take it to any jeweller? It’s a really nice handmade ring that he bought off etsy.

If it’s gold you can take it to any jeweler to get resized but they may charge you if the ring is not from their store.

Thanks! It’s white gold, so that’s good. I’m headed to see my parents over the holidays so I will try to get it done while I’m there!

I had to get mine resized, and I found a jeweller who did the resizing in store. Some stores send them away to be sized and I couldn’t wait weeks to have my ring back! Maybe a friend or family member has a recommendation of a good jeweller to take it to?

Congrats on the engagement. You can take it to any place to be resized. I had mine done at a store in the mall.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and the welcome! I’ll ask around when I get home I guess… It’s a relief to know it’s no big deal!

I have to get mine resized (it was his grandmother’s engagement ring and just too big for my tiny fingers)… I’m bringing it to Kay Jewlers, it’s 35.00 and takes about 2 weeks. Plus they wont’t do anything to the setting (which for me is good b/c the ring is over 50 years old!!)
