I have a round briliant solitaire. I couldn’t care less that it’s currently popular; having a unique or different engagement ring never appealed to me. I just want what I want. Trends come and go–I think pears were popular in the 1950s-1970s and are having a “comeback” now.

I agree with the above – I think everything sort of comes in and out of style after a while.  I totally forgot about ovals entirely until they started getting really popular again this year.

I haven’t been proposed to yet but my SO has had the ring made (I have zero clue what it looks like!). He was really against doing anything that’s super trendy right now, such as halos. Then yesterday he told me that some of the features of my ring, hes starting to see more of, like they’re getting popular. I told him not to worry, trends come and go. Everything becomes popular again at some point

Beautiful ring. Still waiting for mine, maybe today’s the day, it’s my bday!

I think it’s more about having what you love than having what’s popular or not-trendy.  I have a rose-cut shield, which is an unusual shaped stone, and I would be thrilled if I saw someone else with one!

I have a pear too. We wanted something a little “different” although I did know pears were going to be hot this year. Lots of bees think halos are a trend but I really love the look. I guess you could say my ring is “trendy” right now with rose gold, halo and a pear, but it is what we wanted

Antique cushion here. Pretty unique but unless you look closely it just appears round! 🤷🏼‍♀️

My Moissanite is a round brilliant, so a very common/popular cut. But the setting is very unique — I’ve never seen one quite like it before. And I do value having a unique engagement ring… I know that’s not for everyone and that a lot of people enjoy having something traditional/classic, but for me I definitely like having something that feels “different”.

That being said though, the only thing that REALLY matters is that I love my ring. And honestly, if I saw someone with a similar one, I’d probably think it was cool that someone else had similar taste as me! 🙂

Your pear is beautiful and I’m sure you love it very much. And that’s definitely all that matters!

tiff0519 :  thank you! I’m the same, I never wanted something trendy BECAUSE it was trendy, but if I saw a ring that I loved, I wouldn’t care if it was popular at the moment.
