Hi Bees! I know I only posted a few days ago about my SO having (what I (mis-)interpreted as) a panic attack, but was actually him just telling my this thoughts. He basically said he wants to slow down the house renovation in favour of buying a ring!
So yesterday we went to town to do some Christmas shopping, but didn’t find anything we liked for family. We had a coffee and some cake in the café opposite a well known high street jeweller. He said, let’s go in, just to laugh at their limited stock. So obviously, I agreed.
Actually they had a great stock and a sale on!
I tried on 3 or 4 rings, all different sizes and settings. We worked out what we both liked and remeasured my (chubby) finger. We all but decided on one, and was at a GREAT price.
The clerk wrote down the details for us and we left.
On the way home, we were chatting about it. I told him about some similar rings on sale in other jewellers which I thought would help him, as we are on a budget.
He all but said he’d like to get the one I tried.
When we were home, he was browsing the internet and wouldn’t let me sit next to him.
But later on, while having a read through WB waiting boards, I read a funny story and told him about it; he was a little huffy and said ‘oh looking at ring stuff then’.
Argh, men are so weird!
Sorry for the long ranty thread. I’ve never had a ring on that finger before, much less an engagement ring. It felt so nice :3

@RhianfaHW: That’s exciting! Maybe he’s huffy because he found the ring he wants to buy and doesn’t want you looking at rings anymore in case you find something else you prefer?
Lol I totally get what you mean about a ring feeling nice on that finger. i sometimes sneakily put my RHR on my left finger for a minute so it doesn’t feel so lonely and naked.

@copperbird90: Thanks Copperbird90 ๐
I guessed that was what it was about – he wants me to ‘forget’ (HAHAHAHA) about it so he can buy something and surprise me, I suppose.
I sneak my left hand middle finger ring onto my LHR finger occasionally, but it’s not a solitaire so feels completely different lol.
My beautiful RHR broke a while ago, I’m saving to get it fixed ๐

My SO is like that too. I could feel all his organs twitching when I told him I wanted a different style to replace the promise ring he gave me. (the original was too small) I think men care a little more than they let on about style lol!
My goodness I’m excited for you though!

Ha, I love him loads of course.
He did say that he really disagrees with a Christmas-time proposal. So even if he did get that beaut we tried, I’d have to wait until the new year. He said ‘perhaps more February time’.
BUT when I queried him on that later, he said ‘no, I didn’t say I’d get it, or that I might get it’…
He’s like a yo-yo hahah.
Thanks for the excitement ๐ I’m surprised and pleased with how excited he is about marriage. But that’s one of the things that attracted me to him in the first place, how mature and family-centred he is.
