Just a little update:
I asked J if we could go to a different store that didn’t offer free slurpies with a purchase, and we went this afternoon. It was a much better experience this time around. The ring selection was much better (meaning… the rings looked legit, as opposed to the first store we went to, lol). And I actually tried some on! I was a little hesitant at first though. I was a little superstitious, but the jeweller said: “You’ll never know if you like it, if you don’t try it on!”. So I did 🙂 It felt great, and I still love my original ring that I showed J, but there were better versions of it in the store that I loved just as much. Some of them were between $3000 and $5000 (which is a little pricey in my opinion), but J said that it didn’t matter, and told the jeweller that he didn’t really have a budget.
After we left J said that we could check out some other places too. He knows the style I like (vintage), but I think now he just wants to see EXACTLY which one I like. Yay!
P.S. More good news that I’m excited about… I’m gonna be an Aunt again!!!!! Yay!! I just found out today that my little brother and his wife are expecting and are due in March!!

Being disappointed with the situation when you haven’t adequately communicated your wants and needs seems like a waste of energy. TALK to him, go to a nicer place with more variety. This is your engagement, too. It isn’t just up to him.

So glad your second trip was better!

Actually, I’m very vocal with what I want. J is aware of that, and jokes about how ‘subtle’ my hints are, lol. I hold nothing back.
He was interested in going. It was his idea in the first place because he didn’t know what to get me. Just the experience kind of sucked, that’s all.
He suggested checking out some other stores too, so it looks like we’ll be going sometime this week.

@GwenvonD: “asked J if we could go to a different store that didn’t offer free slurpies with a purchase,”……This made me laugh!!!!!

My DH took me once, too. He just wanted an idea of what I liked and didn’t liked. I was sad, too because I thought that meant he didnt care what I liked. But when he surprised me with the ring he picked out on his own later, I was happy that he did a wonderful job!
Trust your SO. He probably has something up his sleeve!
