I chose mine.  You can’t worry about what’s “right” and over analyze.  Go in without a specific anything in mind, try on every single one and there with be one that just calls you.  I had two that called me and together we decided on one.  Some will look natural on you and some will be gorgeous but just not your style.  If you think about it too much, you’ll never decide!

We picked out my ring together and I have second thoughts about it all the time. It’s not that I don’t like my ring, it is that I like LOTS of rings LOL. I chose a round cut stone on a pave band. Sometimes I wonder if I should have it set on a plain white gold band to let the diamond really get all the attention. Sometimes I wish I had a cushion cut, or a pear, or a princess, or an emerald….. you get the idea. I LIKE THEM ALL!

You have to go try them all on. I did. I always went back to a round because of the sparkle factor. Here is a pick of my set to give you an idea. Keep in mind my wedding band isn’t fitted yet and my e-ring needs to be cleaned.

Me and SO picked out my ring together after a lot of browsing – finally I just lost enthusiam (as you do after 2 years of just “browsing” and he finally made a decision and put the downpayment to secure my ring.

Still waiting to see it again once it’s paid off, but don’t feel bad if you find something better next time you go, at least he hasn’t put a deposit down yet!

Picking a ring is currently my living nightmare. Laughing We’ve been looking since May for something we both like (we feel indifferent about EVERYTHING we’ve seen) and decided we should go the custom route. A month later and tons of emails between 4 jewelers we still can’t get someone to recreate what we want in the price range we want. Now, I’m working on my backup plan in case this all falls though and I can’t seem to find ANYTHING I like that I could fall back on.

Don’t feel rushed to pick something. Also, don’t go second guessing yourself. If you loved it the 1st time you’ll probably love it again and again and again. Keep an open mind as well. You may find you discover you love something you never thought you’d love. I discovered I’m not in love with rounds or princess cuts and I personally don’t care for solitaires. Which is ironic because when we first started looking we were eyeing a round solitaire. But something just didn’t click for me. Felt like I was forcing myself to like it. Now I’m in love with cushion, split-shank halos. Woe is me. Laughing Good luck! Let us know if you find anything!

Go out and try on tons of rings. Keep trying them on until one clicks. You’ll know when you find it. Don’t settle for anythiung less than “the one”.

my hubs is a jeweler, so you’d think i’d have seen enough rings to know what i wanted. nope.  I liked everything, but didn’t love anything – if that makes sense. I knew I wanted round (sparklier, looks bigger), and i wanted it delicate. The rest i left up to him! He created a gorgeous halo setting for my ring – delicate, blingy – perfect.  Is it the ring i would get if i personaly choose it? Who knows. But I do love it – partially because he choose it for me 🙂

@claireos: Picking a ring is currently my living nightmare.

^This, Me and my FH have been looking for a month and I knew what I wanted, princess cut, white gold, vintage. We looked at so many until we started passing stores and he would ask if I wanted to look and I would say I didn’t want to tackle it right now, lol. I did narrow down my choices to deleting online stores since I can’t personally go look at them before buying, there goes my Verragio dreams…And I took pictures of the rings I liked either on my hand or holding them so I had future reference of what I have looked at then narrowed that down even more and added the last two on here and asked for votes and advice. Smile

Don’t worry, I changed my mind when I went ring shopping! Before we went shopping, I told him I wanted a 3-stone ring. I was adamant (in fact, my promise ring is a small 3-stone ring with my birthstone as the center – absolutely love :)). Then we went shopping and I tried on a few 3-stone rings and was completely underwhelmed, as was he. So the saleslady showed us some halo style rings and while I always thought they were pretty, just didn’t think it was me. I tried it on anyway and fell in love. lol. The mister made so much fun of me when we left the store for changing my mind but you know, sometimes you just don’t know what you like until you try it on.

So next time you go shopping, try on some other styles and see what you like! Maybe you’ll find something different that you’ll love, or maybe you’ll find that you really do love the orinigal setting you picked. There’s nothing wrong with changing your mind now!

Oh man, I was SO confused when I went ring shopping. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted – I’d been lusting after the same ring since my sister got married when I was 13. I wanted a simple pave band with a pear shaped center stone with halo. The only thing that changed over the next 10 or so years was that I decided a round center was probably more realistic.

Then, once I got to the store and actually started trying rings on my hand, I realized I did not want a halo at ALL. I loved looking at them in pictures, but it just didn’t look right on my hand. Ugh – indecision #1. Next I thought I wanted a center stone around .75 carats, as everything else felt too big on my hand. Well, that was nice while it lasted! When we went to look at rings again 6 months later, suddenly the 1 cts were feeling much better on my hand – indecision #2. By that point I was set on a simple pave band with round center stone, classic and delicate (like @ella86’s ring above – which is GORGEOUS btw!!). Then I randomly stumbled across a ring with a twisted band, and I was in love – indecision #3. Even after finding that ring, I waffled for months because I was so put off by my earlier indecision. Now BF is finally almost done purchasing the ring, and I’m STILL not 100% sure if we picked the right thing, or what kind of stone I want….I’m awful!!

Anyways, the point of all of this is, I have had a ton of second thoughts about the ring. Ultimately I am just happy to give BF some solid options he can pick from. Worst case scenario, I get a beautiful ring that he chose for me (since I’m pretty much incabable of choosing for myself). And by not forcing myself to make a decision, I’ll be happy with whatever he gives me!

If you can figure out what you want, great! But if not, there’s always a silver lining to that too. Don’t worry about it either way though – you guys are ring shopping together, and that is super exciting!!
