Hey everyone. I’m actually a bit on the fence about the ring size. I’m from Poland so we use a different size chart than the one in the US. For example my size here is 17 which I think is an 8 in the US. I measured the ring I wear on my ring finger and it says 18mm. I’m not sure if I should go with an 8 or maybe an 8.25? Did you go with your regular size or did you go for something bigger in case your fingers swell up? I would really appreciate your help! π

Im a size 8 and I go with an 8.25 so my finger doesn’t get muffin top. Id rather it be slightly loose than too tight.

reminddivine: I’m actually a US size 6.5, but I size my ring to a size 6.75. It’s not that big of a difference, but I didn’t want my ring to fit snug and when I add a wedding band it’ll be tighter.
It also depends on how thick the band of your engagement ring will be. If it’s small, around 2mm, I would go with an 8. If it’s thicker 3mm+, I would go with the 8.25.
Good news is, you can always fix the sizing later if it’s too big/small! Do you have a ring picked out yet?

peacock0320: I think we do! It’s 0.62ct, 1.7mm solitaire band. So it will be small… Exactly how I want it :). The chart says that the size 8 is 18.1mm. It should fit then, right?

reminddivine: Sounds beautiful! π I would think so. Most jewelers offer free sizing if you buy a ring from them. Is that part of their policy in case you’d like it bigger in the future?

peacock0320: It’s from Adiamor, and they only offer free resizing for the first 90 days. And the worst thing about it is that my SO and I are in a LDR.

reminddivine: Well since it’s a small difference, go with your gut. Wear the ring you measured on your ring finger and see how it feels when your hands are cold/warm. If it gets tight when your hands are warm, size up to the 8.25 because once you add a band, you’ll need the ring space.
I’m in a constant state of cold, so a 6.75 works well. It won’t slide off my finger, unlike my size 7 promise ring. I was a size 7 until I lost some weight and dropped down to size 6.5, so I feel like 6.75 is a good compromise.
What do you feel like would be best for you?

The ring I have now is actually perfect… I guess it’s kind of similar to what I’d like to have so I probably should go with an 8. It will be my motivation not to gain any more weight! π

reminddivine: I think you’ll be just fine with an 8! I can’t wait to see pictures of your ring once you get it, I bet it’s going to be lovely! π

peacock0320: Aww thank you! I hope it will be… I convinced my SO to go with the quality not the size. And I’m not a ‘big ass diamond’ kinda girl anyway! π

I have a size eight, and I got the fit based on what the jeweller suggested. I tried on the 8, 8.25 and 8.50, and throughout all three I would have been comfortable with all of them, but the jeweller said that the size eight looked better.

The jeweler measured me a 7. I thought it felt too tight so I went to a 7.25, which is perfect for me.

WailFin: Did you measure your finger by any chance? Or the inside of the ring? π

reminddivine: No, I didn’t. I can go measure my finger if you wish?
