Hey everyone! My boyfriend and I have been talking about engagement rings and budget. We have a budget set and now I’m looking at styles. I am a size 9, I have long chubby fingers. I am unsure of what style would fit my finger the best, I don’t want it to look to small. Pictures and suggestions would help!

I have a size 8.5-9. I like at least a 2 carat in a solitaire or a .50-1 carat in a halo. I don’t have a ring right now to post because I just put my replacement ring on layaway. I went with a 2 carat H&A F1 nearcolorless moissanite set in platinum.

aym94 : What kinds of styles do you like and gravitate toward? Have you tried on any styles of rings?
Realistically speaking, most finger shapes can pull off the majority of different rings. I’m pretty sure your ring is going to look fabulous no matter what, so I think your taste should be the primary driving factor in your decision.
I have heard that elongated shapes (oval, emerald, marquise cut, etc.) can be more flattering for chubbier fingers. But in general, longer fingers tend to be able to pull off any shape of stone.

I had a size 9 finger when Fiance and I began ring shopping. It was always a bit sad going into stores to try on rings that only made it to the middle of my finger. I was a little nervous about stones looking small- but they don’t! I ended up getting a .9 oval and I still think it looks big!! I lost weight and am now a size 7.5, but this picture was when I was still a size 9. I was plesantly surprised that the center stone is less than a carat and still had nice coverage.

I would recommend oval or emerald cuts or even radiant cut because they will elongate the finger. Maybe a nice thin blingy wedding band and it should look amazing.
good luck ring shopping is so fun !!!

prettyshinythings : You’re ring is beautiful, thank you for posting and showing a picture it diffinatly gives me some perspective. Also I feel like my finger shape is more like yours. I have gained weight so it makes me wonder if my ring size did go up. I’m in between a cushion cut vs a oval.

I have a size 9 finger and I picked out a split shank band, and a halo around a 1.7 ct brilliant cut round stone. I felt like the split shank made the band look bigger without being too clunky, if that makes sense. Here’s a pic for perspective.

Size 8.5 .6 carat brilliant cut center diamond. I LOVE it. I’m not a gaudy person, so the “smaller” diamond with a fancy band was perfect for me.

If you have long fingers (no matter the size) oval and marquise cut show it off.

I’m a size 8/8.25 and my stone is about 8×9 mm. Also, I have a pretty thin band (1.5 mm) and I feel like the dainty band makes my finger look longer and more elegant! As PP have said, an elongated cut (oval, emerald, pear), are going to be super flattering!

*sorry for posting this thing all over the bee (I just am so obsessed!)
