Sooo ladies, can we talk fit?
When my boyfriend proposed 2 weeks ago, he slid the ring on my finger no problem. Then celebrations ensued and we ate all the food, drank all the wine and bubbly and suddenly I started getting concerned that my ring was tight. (I typically have a very clean diet and never realized just how much certain foods bloat me till I had this ring.)
After the celebrations died down and I got back to my normal eating I was amazed at how easy it was to take my ring on and off and suddenly thought the fit was perfect. I was even raving about its perfect fit and how easily I can get it off just 2 days ago.
Fast forward to last night. We’re at a cottage with friends celebrating and if it exists, you can bet we’ve eaten or drank it (McDonald’s, ice cream, tarts, hot dogs…). But my ring was NOT coming off last night – no way, no how.
So, my question is – is this normal? Is it normal to have days where it fits perfect and others where you feel you need the jaws of life to pry it off cause you ate a few too many fries? My ring was made custom and was sized based on a ring I wore all the time. We were all sure of the size.
I know I should wait to judge it when I’m back to eating normally. The last two weeks have been exceptionally full of celebration which also meant not giving a single *[email protected]% about diet. We’re enjoy life to the MAXIMUM right now.

I don’t have that issue with eating (all that bloat goes straight to my stomach, never to my hands), but I do have a similar experience from winter to summer. In the summer my hands are hot, sweaty, and swollen and it takes more effort to get my rings on and off. Honestly it’s just uncomfortable to wear rings in the summer. In the winter my hands are freezing cold and my rings feel so loose they might just slip off!
All that to say, yes, I think it’s normal. 🙂

renaalecia : Yes, it’s normal and your ring is lovely! Especially with changes in weather like the PP mentioned. xoxo

I got my ring in winter and it fit fine, but now in this heat and humidity, I often struggle to get it off, and some mornings I can’t even get it on without force, so I just wear my wedding ring (which is a size bigger.)
So I think your experience is really normal, but of course very unfortunate.

renaalecia : totally normal. My ring goes from almost too big to almost too small several times a day. As far as sizing, a good rule is to get the ring as big as you can when your fingers are at their skinniest without any fear of it accidentally slipping off. That should give you a bit of space to work with when your fingers are bloated, but it still shouldn’t be too big when they’re not.
Also, I’ve learned over the last year that my finger finger has shrunken! Literally wearing my ring 24/7 has caused that spot on my finger to get smaller. So maybe also give it some time.

I have a bit of swelling in my fingers, off and on, but it really bugs me when my rings feel too tight. I’m thinking of resizing my rings, maybe 1/4 size up, and adding sizing beads.

My fingers change from a 5.5 to a 6.5 on the daily. Since my fiance and I shopped for a ring together, I noticed how radically different my fingers were given the time of day or whether we’d stopped for a beer before looking in a store. A jeweler suggested I split the difference and order a 6 when I chose a ring, so that it would fit most of the time. Like you, it can get tight literally as I’m eating brunch, but not so much that it is noticible (your photos don’t seem noticible either). I’ve heard this issue can go away in the winter, so I’m looking forward to that!

YES! I feel like I wrote this (don’t have an ering yet, but rings in general).
If I eat something particularly salty my hands blow up! On normal eating days my rings twist and almost fall off all the time. I think its normal–some people bloat in their hands and some don’t apparently. Guess we got lucky

Yep, normal. But mine fluctuate more with temperature than food. Sometimes I can fit into a size 6 ring and others my size 7 ring feels so tight I can’t stand to wear it. So annoying.

My finger size is a 6.75 but swells when it gets hot or if I’ve been walking around for a long period of time. Conversely it shrinks a bit when it’s cold or if I’ve been sedentary for a long period of time. Honestly I’d rather it swell up a bit than be too big and fall off! My other rings are a 7 so if needed I’ll just wear the 7.

Congrats!! Your ring is perfect!
Yes, my ring sometimes fits perfectly and sometimes I can barely get it off. I’ve noticed that in the morning, I almost have to shove it on but if I take it off midday to shower, cook, clean, etc. that it slides right off. My body must get kind of puffy in the mornings.
i don’t think it’s a huge deal unless you regularly can’t get it off. That would scare me.

Normal. My finger fluctuates between 4 – 4.75 depending on the time of the day (what I ate haha). Also when you add the wedding band there will be more squeeze on your finger depending on how thick it is.

Totally normal. It isn’t bloating, it’s water retention from increased sodium intake; when you drop the salt back down, it’ll chill out. It may fluxuate with your menstrual cycle, too, and as others have said weather will shift it as well. No biggie!

renaalecia : I don’t remove my rings at all, but my finger fluctuates bin size drastically throughout the day. Sometimes my rings feel loose and spin around my ringer quite easily and other times my finger is puffy and they are harder to turn. I doubt I could get them off when my finger is puffy, but I never try so it’s not an issue for me. Just leave your ring on your finger all the time and it wont matter and after a while you finger will get used to it being that and you won’t even feel a difference when your hands are puffu.
