Sooo my boyfriend and I are going to be starting to look at rings. I’ve always wanted 2 carats since I was a kid. My boyfriend thinks I’m being selfish but I also don’t want a big wedding. I would rather spend it on a ring (that I wear for the rest of my life) and a new house. Can anyone send me pics of their 1.5 to 2 carat rings with the color of it?! I’m curious to see how big 2 carats really is since I don’t know much about diamonds. Thanks!! 🙂

Check out this site… http://www.engagementringguru.com/diamond_carat_size_on_hand_the_two_carat_range.shtml
It has typical finger size (7 is stock, so I’d guess 7) with each ct on it as a solitaire. Mind you, your finger size and the cut of the diamond will make a difference, as will halos, accent stones, etc.
For example, a size 4 finger with a 2 ct stone will be HUGE, while on a size 12 it won’t be as large. A 0.5 ct diamond surrounded by a halo will be much larger than a 0.5 all together.

How big is your finger?
Finger size has a lot to do with how large or small a stone looks. Also different shapes have different “face up” sizes. For example a 1carat round will look bigger than a 1carat cushion since a cushion is a deeper cut. Also color and clarity have a lot to do with how much the stone sparkles. Better quality stones tend to look bigger/more impressive than stones with lower grades even if they might be slightly larger.
All the c’s are important when selecting a stone. Also, adding things like halos will give you more finger coverage at a lower price than a solitare that covers the same amount of finger.
The most important thing though is what the ring symvolizes, so don’t lose sight of that.
I have a 1.5c F color IF stone on a size 4.5 finger amd I think it is a very nice size.

Thanks so much for your input! Your ring looks beautiful!!! I love it! What shape is that?? My ring size is about 4.5-5, I will have to get exact size when we go…

Try them on. Keep in mind a big ring is often not practical and you will have to remove to do anything at all. We stuck with lots of little stones in an interesting patern with good clarity and cut and they shine more than just one big stone and I can actually wear my ring to do nearly anything (except rock climbing). When you shop keep in mind active lifestyles or anythign which might catch (Im a fibre artist so claws are evil for me).
