Whatever floats your boat.  My father worked on a train then in construction for a 47 years as a married man and wore a white gold wedding band until the day he died.  Never had a problem with it.  🙂

okay i had one done before. and i’m divorced now. lol. HONEST.

anyway, my opinion: it hurts like a b**** because the skin in that area is really thin, and it fades really fast. it’s so faint now on my finger that you can hardly see it.

I am a big fan of tattoos but honestly do not like this idea. Sorry to be blunt, but you’re both divorced and yet this marriage is 100% fool proof? I’m not saying you wont be together forever, I hope you are, but there are many things that can change your marriage. What if he cheats on you? I know nobody gets married thinking there’s any chance of divorce… but it happens… a lot unfortunately, and you both have first-hand knowledge of that.

Plus hand tattoos fade like crazy.

@Gypsybarbi:  They bleed and look awful. If you need a tattoo to remind you of your bond that’s a bit weird IMO.

I lovelived e tattoos and have two myself. Ring tattoos are a bad idea. Don’t do it never I you don’t believe in divorce now, you’ll be different people in a decade.

My FH’s brother-in-law is a mechanic. He has a tattoo on the top of his ring finger (where a thick band would be) that is the roman numerals of their wedding date. He has a grey wedding band that he wears when he dresses up, but besides that the tat looks fine.

Also, one of my art professors has a tattoo ring (that is all he has – no jewelry) and he actually tattooed it himself. I think that is a pretty romantic and meaningful gesture considering he is an artist and his wife is too.

Different strokes for different folks. If it appeals to you, go for it!

I like band tattoos but they do fade as others have mentioned. How about a Safe Ring for your husband? They’re made of plastic but look like metal.

Me and my Fiance have discussed getting them.. but not your typical ring shape.. maybe just a symbol or something that means alot to us [lock and key.. not saying that what i’d get.. just an example].

I dont think the “ring” tattoos ever look like, but the few symbols i’ve seen were very cute [ive seen music notes, mustaches]. And – we’d still wear our wedding bands on top of it, so most likely, nobody would ever know, just us and those we told about it.

As for the pain/fading.. yeah.. anywhere that sees alot of friction will fade.. I have a small cartoon cow tattoos on my foot [it’s seriously 1 inch big], I got it last feb, and it isn’t faded yet, but I was told that it WILL, and it’ll need redone. Fine with me.

I also have a tattoo on my wrist… I hear it’s one of the worst places to get them. It was slightly painful [this is saying alot because all of my other tattoos tickled, including my foot]… but MAN – when he got to RIGHT under my palm [the creases in your wrist], holy CRAP that hurt like no other!

DH doesn’t like wearing his ring, so he’s agreed to get a tattoo for an anniversary. His ring is plain black tungsten so at a glance it shouldn’t even be noticable to most. I wear my rings all the time, so I don’t think I’ll be getting one, although I have several other tattoos. I may get another to honor him somehow when he gets his band, perhaps on my back. I like them, maybe every year you guys could go on your anniversary to get them touched up if they fade?
