I think it’s a lovely idea, especially if your wedding will be more intimate with a small guestlist.  The people there are your nearest and dearest!

I’ve never been to a wedding with a ring-warming, but if I was asked to do so, I would.  I’m not religious so I wouldn’t pray, but I’d hold the rings for a moment and think a kind thought for the happy couple.

My Fiance and I won’t be incorporating a ring-warming, but only because our ceremony will be pretty short & sweet and I would worry about the ring not making it around in time.

If you’re worried about a ring getting lost – tie them together with a ribbon.

If you’re worried about germs or gunking up the rings – put them in a simple mesh pouch (like the ones people put Jordan almonds in).

My Fiance and I will be having a ring warming ceremony- our ceremony will have about 18 people in attendance, will be standing only and will be about 15 minutes long. We think this will be a great way let everyone feel involved in the ceremony without it being too long or putting people “on the spot.”

I’m surprised so many people dislike this type of ceremony. I thought it was a really nice, non-religious way to have an interactive ceremony without doing something sand-related.

I would say absolutely not. Maybe your very very VERY closest friends and family. Everybody does NOT wish you well. You have no idea what type of wishes they’re invoking on your ring. Some folks are just jealous, mean, and nasty.

@joya_aspera:  Just curious, how do you find it “excessive?”

I think it’s a cool idea, and actually pretty commonplace from what I’ve seen/weddings I’ve been to. But I won’t be doing it myself because I don’t believe in luck/prayers/auras etc. Even if I wanted to do it, I probably only would for a super intimate wedding, like under 20 people.

@1inthechamber:  my followup question would be… why would you invite people who would be mean and nasty to your wedding?! It never even occured to me that someone might try to “curse” us

I like the idea, but not doing it. I love the idea of a see-through organza baggie holding them. I went to one where they had the bridal party, the groomsmen, and the parents of the bride and groom do the warming, not the whole congregation. It was nice.
