Hi diamand: … First off I see this is your first post… so a BIG Welcome to Wedding Bee, and “the Hive”

You will want to check out Blue Nile ( http://www.bluenile.com ) for sure…

It is a website where you can build your own ring… choosing both the Setting & Loose Diamonds (feature stones)

A quick look over there and I was able to find a Petite Cathedral Pave Setting in 18 Kt White Gold (1/6 CTW = 0.166 points) for $ 1,040 CDN (I am a Canadian so cannot access the US Website, but our two Dollars are pretty close these days)

The exact same ring in 1/5 CTW = 0.20 points goes for $ 1,400 CDN

And a similar setting with 1/6 CTW = 0.166 points in Platinum goes for $ 1,425 CDN (a great price for Platinum !!)

You can then choose your loose feature diamond.  I put your requirements into their data base, and for a diamond between 0.50 and 0.70 Carats goes for anywhere from $ 720 to $ 9,453 CDN… DEPENDING SOLELY ON THE QUALITY OF DIAMOND you wish to purchase (the 4Cs)

I suggest that you educate yourself on the 4Cs for Diamonds (Carat – Cut… Shape & Quality – Clarity – and Colour).  There is of course the 5th C for Quality Diamonds… Certification, and some Brides are also concerned about a 6th C … Conflict Free (ie Canadian Diamonds)

You can find a lot of great info on Blue Nile’s Website in their Education Section (look for the tab at the top of their page), and of course you can always come back here to Bee to get more info / help as you narrow down your choices on a ring.

Hope this is helpful,

Personally, to stay in budget, I would spend majority of the money on a nicer center stone and get a good color but lower quality small stones in the setting. There is a guy on WB that bought the wedding ring set from Jared and the main stone from James Allen and it turned out BEAUTIFUL!

Welcome to the hive!!!

Remember there is a HUGE price difference between 0.5 and 0.7.

My diamond is 0.47, which is still considered a half by jewelers, and was almost $500 less than going with a 0.52 that we were shown.  Where a 0.7 is just shy of 3/4 carat.  There is a sizeable price difference there!

Remember if you go with that setting you are looking at side diamonds too, which may make the price of your mounting almost $3,000 or more in itself.

My ring is an ArtCarved Sunrise (you can google it) :), so the side diamonds only equal a total of 0.02 carat weight, but the mounting was still a thousand dollars without the center stone.

You also want to match your center diamond with size diamonds for a more flawless look.  When we went to get my ring they sat us down with the more expensive, colorless and flawless diamonds they had and I told them I wanted a G-H SI1 because that was what was in my mounting.  The ring turned out beautifully.

Congratulations on your engagement!  I agree with ” this time around”. Bluenile has some great optionswithin able within your price range.  I know a lot of the girls will have some great advice on other sites that have good pricing.  I can’t remember the sites they have mentioned before but I know, blue lie, overstock and if you like moissanite rings, they are a great value.  Moissanite.com, Or even eBay ( be careful with eBay, ensure you get proper documentation).

Good luck, I look forward to seeing pics of your chosen ring!

I have the Tiffany Setting, yes we paid a lot for the Tiffany name, but I love my ring 🙂 It is 0.61 carats

I agree with PPs, blue nile or other online stores will get you the best deal, that ring is gorgeous 🙂

its not like the one you are looking at but for refferance here is a pic of my original Ering, (sadly due to jeweler issues we had to return and are getting a new custom ring made) the center stone is .68 on a size 6 finger (had to put it on my pinky with the set since my Fiance thinks its badluck to have the whole set on finger before the wedding day. Hope this gives you an idea what that size stone could look like!
