Bring it with! You’ll want to wear it on the plane and stuff.

When I was in Mexico at a resort, my room had a safe in it (all the rooms did). We kept our wallets and jewelry in there at ALL times if we weren’t using them (even if we were just out for 5 minutes). Some hotels will give you a room with a safe if you request it, even if it’s not standard.

We’re going to the Galapagos Islands via Quito and I don’t plan on bringing my rings.  One less thing to worry about.

I’ve been to the Mayan Riviera a few times. It’s beautiful and I didn’t consider anything unsafe. Wear them!

@caits615:  wear them.  if you don’t want to wear them in the water, put them in the safe.  i do and have never had an issue.  my ring insurance covers this so i’ve never worried.

We’re going to the same resort!  But about 2 weeks later. I’m thinking about not bring mine. I had a watch stolen from my room in Cancun before. So I think I may bring a fakie.

I’m definitely NOT bringing mine but will get a plain twist band (no diamonds) to wear. I think it depends on where you go and if you plan on leaving the resort. We’re going to South Africa and Moazambique and I’m very unfamiliar with the areas…hence, I’ll be leaving mine at home although I hate to do so.

I don’t think it’s so much a matter of having ring insurance (but it definitely helps) its moreso about your comfort level.

@caits615:  I wore mine down to Bora Bora/Moorea…and on a cruise in the Caribbeans, and throughout Asia. Didn’t have a problem anywhere yet; I even snorkeled wearing my rings all over the place. The only downside is that the stones get grubby and dirty so they don’t sparkle as much.

@caits615:  I wear mine pretty much in the same fashion as you do. I still took mine on my hm but I wore them the entire time because there weren’t safe’s in the rooms and the rooms weren’t even that sealed (we stayed in beach huts etc in Fiji). Had I been at a nice resort with a safe I would have locked them up a lot of the time I think. I almost didn’t take them or took a stand in, but I couldn’t bear to not wear them already!

@caits615:  I’d bring it with you and keep it in the in-room safe whenever you’re not wearing it. I’d probably keep it on the bedside table at night so if you need to evacuate or something you can grab it.

I would also make sure it’s insured. I would never wear an expensive piece of jewelry unless it was insured by a company that replaces if it’s lost (like Jeweler’s Mutual).

I have a plan gold band that I will be wearing and becuase we are that kind of couple, Fiance has a matching one as well.  They are not super expensive and if they get hurt or lost not a huge deal.  I will be leaving my sparkler at home just cause I don’t want to ding it on our adventure.
