I have to say, I just LOVE your opal ring! I recently inherited one from a great grandma (although mine might be imitation, I need to take it to a jeweler to look at) and if Fiance hadn’t had an e-ring already bought, I would have been tempted to have him use the opal. The iridescence is so divine and yours has all kinds of fire.

The top one (rose gold color) is my current mani- I have been obsessed with CND Vinylux!! 7 day nail polish with no UV or LED Lights. It stays soo freakin well. These colors are way prettier in person!

- Wedding: October 2014 - Vegas baby!
Kinda hard to see but these are my Christmas nails. Sinful colors in a shiny gel tech is the red, and the silver accent nail is just a design color, with the thin brush. I must say, for an inexpensive polish, this red is one of my very favorites. It looks like real gel, and lasts too. And I’m very rough with my hands!

Nail technician here! To answer your questions, gel manicures put simply can be two different things, soft gel and hard gel. Most of the time when people say they got a gel manicure they mean a gel polish, which comes in a bottle that looks almost like a regular nail polish bottle and is painted on and cured (or put under a light that is either a UV light or an LED light) and usually lasts around 2 weeks until it is soaked off with pure acetone. It’s a popular choice because theres no drying time, it’s SUPER shiny and there’s no chipping. You’ll hear people mention gel polish brands like gelish (harmony nails brand) or shellac (CNDs brand- my personal favorite) or OPIs gel. There’s also hard gel which usually comes in a pot and is painted on and cured much like a soft gel. The difference is a hard gel cannot be soaked off with acetone, but only filed off. It’s more a popular choice for over acrylics. Acrylics are a nail enhancement that is made of acrylic powder and liquid that is applied either directly to the nail or onto a tip that is glued onto your nail to add length. The powder and liquid is mixed and then applied to the nail and when dry, it hardens. They last until they grow off and then the new growth is filled with more acrylic and reshaped. Acrylic nails are very unhealthy for your nails and I wouldn’t suggest doing them. Its much better to get gel, it keeps your nails strong enough that they can grow out without breaking. Also, it is recommended to get manicures about every two weeks. At that point if you get gel manicures they need to be redone and acrylics will need filling. I think I covered everything. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. I hope I helped! 🙂
