@IzzyBear:  Same! I only seem to like 6 prongs when they have sizeable diamonds in them. The first one I really saw was a friend of mine who had her grandmother’s 3.5 carat round (dull as anything but big and had a lovely story). Some styles I like and don’t depending on size.

@Schrodingers-Car:

I love gemstone rings but they just don’t say married to me…no offense to anyone I wish I had the confidence to rock them. Also large stones…thats why I just want a band because I like larger diamonds, but think they look odd and feel strange on my hand. Also my sister has a quad from Zales…they’ve been married 6 years and she never takes it off…it’s fine. They’re not fragile if mounted right.

Over time I’ve realised I do like the look of diamond engagement rings, even solitaires, however not on me. I just cant pull that look off no matter how classic.I’m too complex and odd.  I can do classics like victorian or art decco but simple styles I just cant pull off. My husband knew this and its why we went with something out of the ordinary, and I’m pleased.

@cupcakesandcombatboots:  I think particularly with unusual gemstones you do have to have a certain vibe to pull it off and give the married vibe. I couldnt pull off a diamond solitaire to save my soul, but I can totally pull off a color changing sapphire and everyone has said it is the perfect ring for me.

@Schrodingers-Car:  Haha well that is exactly what I’m doing! Since I wear the plain band more than my actual set, when we get married i’m going to get a solitare, maybe a CZ so I can’t get a larger one and not worry about it, and just wear that most of the time! (:

Anything that I can’t sit a straight band up against with no gap. I crossed so many gorgeous rings off my list because of it, but a curved band or a gap would drive me crazy.

@Schrodingers-Car:  Pave bands. I love the sparkly band, but now that I have one I hate it. I check it daily to make sure I didn’t lose anything. And it kind of bothers my finger if I wear it too much.

Also having a ring at all. Of course I love jewelry and I love rings, but I spend way too much time worrying about it, gloves are uncomfortable and my fingers are freezing! I have to watch what I’m doing with my hand all the time and I can’t stand it when it gets wet underneath my ring. So I must remove it to wash my hands. And then I run the risk of forgetting it in the bathroom. I have lost other rings this way 3 different times.

@dewingedpixie:  +1 I feel the same way. I am a very colorful person and a ring with a diamond center stone just isn’t me. When I as looking at rings I was always drawn to unusual rings and gemstones. I too thought people might say something since it wasn’t a diamond but everyone was like oh that is totally you. Your Fiance gets you… LoL

I love eternity rings.  The unbroken circle of sparkle’s just gorgeous.  But I hate feeling bulkiness between my fingers and would be paranoid about damaging one, so I’d never buy an expensive one.

This was my absolute favorite ring I had ever encountered until I tried it on… Ovals are not right for my short square hands!!! I still dream about this ring though!

I love round halos on other people, but they always look like flying saucers on me
