Have you asked your doctor about having betas done? That’s the only way to know if your levels are doubling.

MeandYou:  AF type cramps are pretty common early in pregnancy, from what I’ve heard. If your test is getting darker I don’t think there’s any reason to be worried. If it will make you feel better, perhaps call a nurse hotline if your provider has one?

Why are you suspecting a Chem? Have you been bleeding?

I had some mild af type cramps in the early weeks. The fact that the test line is getting darker is a good sign. Try to get in with your doctor if you haven’t already to see if your hcg is doubling as it should.

Your test is nice and dark before AF is even due, that’s a good sign. When I had a chemical I never got more than super faint squinters up to 15dpo and AF arrived that day. There really is no way of telling if you’ll miscarry or not. You could ask for blood work at the docs to confirm that hcg is rising appropriately but even then it’s a waiting game. I know how stressful it is, but I hope you can try to relax and just be happy that you did get pregnant. I hope things continue to progress well for you.

Cramps can be totally normal. The only way to know for sure if your levels are doubling is to have your HCG tested. The test strips are not going to always be accurate.

MeandYou:  I have been having cramps on and off for the last few days and I have a BFP. Cramping is fine and normal unless it is accompanied by bright red blood so don’t sweat it too much. Easier said than done I know. I think it is a scary time right now in the early weeks, especially as you don’t usually see the doctor/midwife until later….what about all these questions I have?!

Hope it goes well at the doctors

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I don’t have personal experience with a chemical pregnancy, but, as others have said, the fact that your lines are getting darker is a great sign! First thing I’ll say is an unsettling thing, but since you want to go in “eyes open”–HCG rising is a great indicator that all is well, but not a guarantee. My first pregnancy was a blighted ovum, and my HCG was rising normally the whole time basically until I found out at a US that it wasn’t a viable pregnancy. BUT, on the good news front—after my MC, I got pregnant again and spent the first trimester freaking out about recurring AF-like cramps…and here I am at 29 weeks and all is well!

I really, really understand how hard it is to keep anxiety at bay, but my personal advice is to try to just be thankful each day that you’re pregnant….for one, odds are that everything is totally fine! 2) In my experience, being “defensively pessimistic” didn’t actually make the hurt any less when I found out I was going to MC, so its not helpful. That’s my opinion. Best of luck!

Congrats! That is a super dark line before your period is due!  I had 2 chemical pregnancies, and my lines never got that dark.  If your tests are getting darker, i’d say you’re not having a chemical pregnancy!

I had cramps after I got my BFP, but they are more achey-pressure cramps and twinges rather than AF type cramps.
