I went a few weeks ago with a friend who needed a SUPER last minute wedding dress off the rack after an alterations disaster. It was a really nice experience – even though she had really difficult requirements (something available off the rack, under $1,000 and not a typical sample size). We went in the middle of the day on a weekday – I can imagine things are crazier on a weekend – and it seemed like there were only two brides in the store. (The other bride kept coming out in some stunning dresses, too!) She eventually found two really great options – one of them was something the consultant found after hearing what she was looking for. I thought it was a great experience!

Plum4getful:  I was there a few weeks ago.  Yes, they have TONS of dresses, but don’t be fooled–they don’t really have every dress listed on their website.  If there are any dresses you’re really serious about, you can email them and ask if they actually have it, and they’ll respond within 24 hours.  I would not reccomend RK as your FIRST bridal shop experience.  In my experience it was much more of a bride-directed shopping trip (meaning I went around and picked out dresses I thought I’d like) without much input from the staff.  It is pretty overwhelming in there, when you see the quantity of gowns they have!  That said, I will probably end up getting my dress from there (but if I hadn’t already shopped around and found out what I like, it probably wouldn’t have worked out that way).

I should also mention that I went on a weekend, and it was very busy.  Definitely go during the week if you can!

Plum4getful:  Oh, well if you know what you’re looking for you’ll be ok!  Kleinfeld has Maggie Sottero, but I haven’t been to any other stores that have Mori Lee or Alfred Angelo.  RK is divided into sections by designer, so if you know what designers you’re looking for you’ll be able to narrow it down greatly.  Also, jealous that you live in Bermuda. 🙂

RK is great and has better prices than Kleinfeld’s, but it’s a little but of a rushed/intense experience. I think I tried on 12 dresses in an hour. I was a bit overwhelmed in the end. It’s definitely worth the trip. Also, try Designer Loft or Wedding Atelier.

I was there last week – technically my 3rd visit to a bridal salon, so I had an idea what I wanted.  I brought in a list of dresses, from the website, and out of maybe 10, they had about 5.  My consultant was great, Asia was her name, and she even managed to find a couple dresses that weren’t on my list but similar to the styles that I liked.  I went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was pretty empty, but since they don’t take appointments, I’m sure they’re crazy busy on weekends.  I definitely recommend going during the week.  I didn’t actually look through the racks to find my own dresses, but I was able to walk around the store, and I believe they were all organized by designer.  I’m definitely going to go back in a few weeks to buy the dress that I fell in love with.

I just ordered my dress from them yesterday. As everyone said, it’s busy in weekends, so here is my advice

1. go on a weekday, but even on weekends, you can go around and flip through every single dress they have there during your wait time. (This is usually not allowed in other “high end” salons)

2. my consultant Leah constantly asks me what I like and don’t like about each dress. And after trying the 5 I picked, she took charge, and brought in another 5.

3. after first visit, get the consult’s email or phone number, and you can just email or call them and tell them you want a same day visit. they are very accommodating. I had another 3 visits with Leah and she was always happy to see me.

4. their manager lisa is very knowledgable. You can always ask her opinion if you are not sure.

they offer 10% off if you take the dress to other external tailors and they do give you a list of preferred vendors.

You’re not allowed to take pics there. Made it impossible for me to pull the trigger bc I needed to see it objectively not in a mirror

Star116062:  I took tons of pics, and in fact my consultant told me to take them.
