I love duck, but I know a lot of people would prefer the safer option of chicken. It really depends on your guests!

I love duck but a lot of people don’t.  The chicken is a better choice.  The stuffing sounds amazing!

Chilean Sea Bass is a threatened species that should never, ever, ever be eaten or served. The fishing techniques used to catch it (longlines) are also considered horrific for the environment in terms of bycatch.

Just FYI. Super uncool that that’s a menu option.

I’d do chicken as duck is a very uncommon protein for most people. A lot of people (myself included) just don’t like it.

@crayfish:  This is no longer the case due to regulatory changes likely brought about as a result of the boycott (so high five to you and everyone else who participated).  Here’s some science: http://newswatch.nationalgeographic.com/2013/04/12/chilean-seabass-goes-from-take-a-pass-to-take-a-bite/ I think National Geographic is a decent source but if you google it there are oodles more.  OP if you check with your caterer to ensure the fish is caught legally you should be good to go, although keep in mind any of your guests who remember the boycott and haven’t looked into the issue since might question it.

PS I’d go with chicken only because duck can be greasy and filling, and I like to have a little room for cake, but both sound delicious 🙂

I would have ordered the duck at your wedding and then made my husband order the duck so I could eat his plate too. That’s how much I love duck.

We had duck for our meat option! It was sooo good…

I find that people tend to moan if you just do chicken, because that’s the sort of thing they eat every day at home.

@AGTbee:  I love duck!  But given the choice, I would select the sea bass!

@AGTbee:  I prefer duck, but I would go with chicken given that you already have a red meat option. IMPO duck is more comparable to filet mignon than to chicken, and I think that chicken caters to fussy eaters, whereas duck doesn’t. We’re having a chicken option for that reason, as the fussy eaters we’re inviting won’t eat steak/lamb/duck/pork/fish etc.

I vote duck, as long as you’re having such an exciting menu!
