heres some background. I have two sisters one five years older and one five years younger (27 and 18) . We have never been very close and don’t talk on a really regular basis other than when we are all at my parents house. As unfortunate as it is that’s how it is. I am having 5 bridesmaids and I did not ask my sisters. I dis cussed this with my mom prior and she was fine without as long as I don’t have the expectation they ask me to be theirs. My mom and family are now asking what roles they will have in the wedding. im at a loss because I haven’t been to many weddings so what are my options? My flower girl and ring bearer will be about 22 months so my younger sister i would like her to walk them down the aisle. My older sister could do the readings or sometHing? I need suggestions, and has anyone been in a similar situation?

If its Catholic you may need gift bearers
They could be “in charge” of setting up for the reception/ organizing/ etc.
Can they sing or play an instrument? They could do that at the ceremony or reception
They could organize the cake, cut it, and personally serve it to the guests for a cute, personal touch.
They could be in charge of the guest book
I’m sure more ideas will come to me, but these are a few off the top of my head

You can always ask her to be an usherette too. There is absolutely no reason all the ushers have to be male. Females are perfectly capable of showing you to your seat too.

@wildflowerbee: My daughter used groom’s sisters (who were not in the wedding party) to do the readings.

@Sadiepoo: I think that is what I will do because its better than ushering
