Hi Lovely Bees,
So long story short, my husband has been gone for 12 weeks (at an Army training in SC) and comes home TONIGHT!!! Hurray!
I reserved us a hotel room for the evening, and am wanting to bring a picnic basket with some fun foods for us to enjoy this evening. Any ideas?
I am packing some fresh berries and whipped cream, and also a bottle of chocolate wine, but what would you recommend for some more savory-type items? Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated!!

Oh and just so you know, I am gluten intolerant. So some of the more “typical” foods have to be limited a bit…

Hmm prosciutto wrapped figs? or prosciutto wrapped melon?

grapes and cheese, is there gluten in cheese (sorry I have no idea)? Maybe something he’s missed. Veggies and ranch dip, mini meatballs, tomato and mozarella on toothpicks, olives.

chocolate covered strawberries

I’m also gluten intollerant so I know how hard this can be!!! I don’t know if you live near a Whole Foods but they’re really helpful in finding Girlfriend crackers and the like for cheeses and dips. You might be able to find other Girlfriend items there since they have a huge Girlfriend section. How about making a seasoned popcorn? I’m guessing you might be limited as well since you won’t be able to heat anything up. I’m going to think about this further!

Thanks everybody, those are fantastic ideas! I actually was going to stop by Whole Foods on the way for a couple of things, so I will try to get some crackers or something like that!
@slicey19: those are good ideas! Cheese is a very safe food so that’s a good one to add. Maybe some veggies as well…hmm…
Hehe I was planning on using today to just focus on this task, but I’m so excited about him coming back I can hardly think about ANYTHING. Yikes…
