So FI and I finally decided to skip europe and go to US for our honeymoon, Euro is just too expensive for us brazilians. So instead of a 7/9 days honeymoon in France we are going on a 15/20 days in US. We already went to all “touristic” places, like NY, Orlando, Miami and recently got back from a roadtrip in California. We don’t want that for our honeymoon, we want a cozy lodge/B&B, with that “middle of nowhere” feeling.
I loved Aspen, Vermont, Wine Country, so you can see we are not really set anywhere LOL, but how is the weather in the end September in those places?
We also want somewhere “near” a big city so we can buy a couple of stuff for our new house on our way back.
So, what do you suggest??

The weather in Vermont at that time of year can be AMAAAAAZING. You can also check out Connecticut if you want something a little further South. That way you would also be near NYC.

archi_bee: New England is beautiful that time of year. The coast of New England would make a beautiful honeymoon in september. You could start in Maine and go down to Boston, stopping along the way.

This isn’t super close to a big city and it’s in Canada, but have you heard of Banff national park? I’ve never been there, but it looks absolutely gorgeous and I have some friends who went there in late september and their pictures are to die for.
I’m also a huge fan of the pacific northwest. You could incorporate Vancouver, Seattle, and/or Portland.

aroger: The problem with Canada is that we need a visa, and to US we already have. But well it is SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PLACE, that we may consider it! Thanks!! The Wine Country is really close to Seattle, with a lot of vineyards, and we do love some wine, do you if the wheather in the end of september is good that time of the year? We wanted snow, but we don’t want to wait a couple of months before going to our honeymoon 🙁
geneva2: I have always heard that Vermont is a very romantic place, thank god the weather is great around september!
SithLady: Oooh I saw this lovely inn at Nantucket too, and FI loves to drive (God knows why), it would be wonderful to travel the coast!
Thank you ladies, for taking you time to help me!

What about a road trip down the West coast? Start in Seattle, head to the Oregon coasts, Sonoma/Napa, San Francisco? My friends are currently doing this for their honeymoon and the pictures are amazing!
I grew up in the Northeast and would not go there in Sept. the weather is very tempermental that tiime of year and it could go from be gorgeous to cold and rainy for a week or really hot.

Ahh Visas complicate things.
The weather in the pacific northwest in late Septemeber is usually very nice. Seattle down to Sonoma would be a lovely trip. You could even go from Seattle to San Francisco.
You could visit Olympic National Park. In Oregon there is crater lake national park. Northern California has the redwoods, beautiful coast as well, wine country.
You could also drive part of the coast through Oregon. I think late september is the best time to go to Sonoma/wine country. The vinyards are changing colors, and the weather is lovely. I’d recommend checking out Healdsburg if you end up going to Sonoma.
