    misskate18 :

Oh, yeah.  Nothing like hearing your dentist say ‘Oops’.

You have my empathy.  I’ve had bad tooth pain sufficient to get me into the ER.

I’ve had quite a few. there is a problem in the enzymes on my spit that cuses me to have a lot of cavities. I’ve never had any strong feelings towards root canals. I don’ enjoy them by any means but it has felt like a normal cavity repair but requires extra visits. I’m lucky that my cavities very very rarely hurt *knock on wood*. I really don’t like going to dentist  and Im a bit scared. once I had another cavity and I was vincing in pain. Dentist told me that it shouldn’t hurt since I’ve had root canal on that tooth. the pain disappeared immediately….i don’t think it’ psychological 😉

I do remember an occurrnce where the the antibiotic in the root started to hurt like hell for no reason. that thankfully stopped after a few hours.

floandcat :  No root canals but plenty of crowns. I also had a cracked tooth but not bad enough for a root canal. I’ll for sure need one one day though I think one of my crowns is on its last leg.

None and only had one or two cavities in the past. I did, however, get all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed last year, in August, at 29 years old where I wss sedated and had such bad luck post-op. 🙁 half of my mouth is just starting to regain feeling. I hate dentists or anything teeth related and only go once every few years. I used to need laughing gas but was getting silly to be getting them as an adult though.

Just wondering if you’re feeling any better? Hope you’ve gotten some relief! Maybe they should just extract the dang thing!

floandcat :  I feel you on the dental sadness. I had a crown split in half last week. Got in to have it replaced today, but it needed overnight to set. They put in a temp that fell off as soon as I got home and brushed my teeth. Blah!!

Sorry about all the work you need done. Going to the dentist is a drag!!

Ugh root canals suck. I’ve had 3. 1 tooth cracked from a banana chip and the only way to save it was with a RC, 1 tooth from an infected filling and 1 unexpectedly. Def sucks.

My first one was horriffic.  I had pain for three years afterwards due to how poorly it was done.

The second one was under sedation because of the massive panic attack I had from the first one.  It was fine.

The third one was unreal.  The doctor was totally different than anyone I’ve ever seen.  Between nitrous and novicane, not a single bit of pain and he kept talking to me so I didn’t panic.  At the end, he packed the tooth with antibiotics and sent me home for two weeks.  After two weeks, I went back, he confirmed that the nerve was totally gone, and that the tooth was in perfect shape (for what had been done).  I got the crown and then six months later, he checked again to make sure that nothing untoward had happened.

floandcat :  My teeth are pretty bad due to genetics. Most of them have decalcified around the base. I usually get a cavity or two every year and something major done, which means even with insurance, we’ve been spending $2-3k every yr on dental bills. Like in 2016, it was a root canal (only one so far though) and crown. This past year, one of my teeth were beyond saving so I had to get oral surgery for the tooth extraction (implant TBD).

I hope you recover faster from your root canal! I don’t recall being in pain afterward, I think my endo did a great job. The pain in the week or two before getting it done was like 50x worse, I needed Advil or Tylenol every few hours until they killed the nerve.

I picked the first one but my teeth are not superb by any means lol. I need them whitened. I have to get a crown because my front tooth is bonded and is 20 years old now and has changed color, ew. Oh and I’ve had sooooo many fillings but I always catch them before they turn into needing a root canal.

jellybellynelly :  lol I’m Canadian too and a lot of people that I know have 3+ root canals and lots of partial/full implants. Maybe people just don’t want to tell you/talk about them. It’s pretty normal here in the GTA.
