I have a 14k ring and 18k earrings and I prefer the 14k because it can’t be confused for yellow!

18K rose gold is warmer and more peach colored.  14K is more rosy/coppery colored. You may find more variation in color with the 18K as well. As someone already mentioned, 18K rose can sometimes be very similar to 18K yellow. It really depends on the alloy.

This is 14K.

Top band is 18K, bottom band is 14K rose gold.  I think 14K is harder?

@busybee3791:  14k has less gold so its not as soft. Personally I prefer 14k as a color preference.

The lower the karat the more copper/orange tone. The higher the karat the paler, like other pp’s mentioned some alloys are more yellow in higher karats.

Also the higher the karat the softer the metal since the gold content is higher and gold is very malleable in its purest state.

Some people can plate brass or silver with rose gold too and its a gorgeous pink, but I wouldn’t recommend it as it wears very quickly.

I have both.  14k is marginaally harder than 18k.  I would pick based on colour.  18k is more peachy, 14k is more red.

Yeah 14 is harder bc it has less gold in it, which is very soft. I prefer 14k bc I feel like 18k looks like yellow gold

Really big pic…

14k in both pics.. Lighting changes how it looks.. The first is more true to life, coppery-pink.

@busybee3791:  14k is harder than 18k. 14k contains more copper, so it’s pinker while 18k contains less copper and it’s more peach/yellow.

In rose gold I personally prefer 14k to 18k, because it (usually) looks more pink toned than copper.
