hi bees!
need your help deciding if I should go with rose gold or platinum. I know there are other boards that address similar questions but I have yet to find a board that shows what rose gold looks like on someone with my skin tone. So I love both rose gold and platinum but I’m not sure if rose gold suits my skin tone (I’m of Pakistani heritage). Here are some pics of what platinum and rose gold look like on me. Any help/opinions are much appreciated. I’ve attached a pic with and without flash for the rose gold ring
PS: my bf will be getting me a .9 carat round solitaire (he loves that look and size for me but he’s letting me decide what metal to use)

Platinum! Love RG but it’s a trend.

MrsBuesleBee : haha you know I’m starting to realize platinum might be best now that I look at both pics side by side. The platinum just looks so cool and classic. I think my skin tone may be too warm for rose gold?

I think platinum pops more on your finger!

My ring is platinum. I think RG is a trend and will pass in time, but platinum is timeless.

The rose gold kind of looks like yellow gold on your skintone. I prefer the platinum — all day!!! Platinum will never go out of style! RG is pretty (and trendy like PPs said), but I think it’s more maintenance.

I do like the plat on you better, it pops for sure. But I do love the softness of RG and that’s what I have for my own ring but I do not agree that rose gold is a trend. It’s been around for over a 100 years. I myself have an heirloom rose gold ring with rubies and diamonds that’s about 90 years old. And I have all colored metal -including plat jewelry. It comes down to what you love personally. Good luck bee! You really can’t go wrong! 🙂

I like platinum on your skin better. I think i’d also like yellow gold, but I don’t think the rose gold suits your skin tone.

I agree, though Rose Gold is what’s “hot” right now, it’s not a new thing by far. It’s been around a while and will be around for longer. Go with your gut! Both look great.

SabL22 : yes I agree rg is so timeless like platinum. I think it just depends on what suits you and what you like 🙂

safa7938 : Platinum! Platinum pops more and is classic/timeless like other bees have said. My eventual engagement ring will be platinum also. I’m African American with caramel/honey skin tone.

Definitely rose gold. You have warm undertones to your skin (so do I!), so rose gold or yellow gold is probably going to look best on you.
I also disagree that platinum is timeless – white gold/platinum is a relatively new trend. When you look at vintage rings, they’re almost all rose gold or yellow gold. Rose gold is definitely having a moment right now, but it had a moment 10 yrs ago too, and 10 yrs before that….

I like the platinum with your skin tone and also think RG is a trend. I have a beautiful Tiffany’s rose gold ring that I recently stopped wearing because I grew tired of the look just after 8 months of wearing it.

lagavulin : Actually, there are a lot of antique platinum pieces, but the alloys were different. It was very popular from the late 1800s to WWII, when it became unavailable. Then gold was more popular until recently. But platinum is not a “new” trend.
