Charlene2 :   I’ve had my 14k rose gold ring for about 4 years now and I can tell you the discoloration is not normal. Is it marked with the k? Either way I would take it to a jeweler to be tested. It sounds like it could be rose gold plated.

Charlene2 :  Do you have any pictures of the ring? It’s normal for rings to get small scratches, especially if you’re wearing it all day everyday. But rose gold shouldn’t change color, so I’m wondering if it was plated instead of being solid rose gold. Pics would help.

..Rose gold is the most durable and never requires plating. I too wonder if it’s plated. I’d go see a jeweller

Charlene2 :  that does not sound right at all, my wedding band is 10k rose gold, I never remove it and I have had it for going on 2 years and have not had any issues. Can you post a pic?

Charlene2 :  I agree with others who suggest it may be plated? I have never had that happen with any of my rose gold jewelry, including my eternity band that I’ve worn just about every day for the last 6 years.

Solid gold doesn’t usually “fade” where it would look silver unless it’s gold plated over silver I don’t think Charlene2 :

Charlene2 :  The same thing happened to me with my white gold ring! I asked a jeweller about it, and they told me it’s probably originally yellow gold and only plated. Urgh I’m sorry if that’s the case with your ring as well.

I wear two rose gold rings daily and have never had any discoloration like that. Mine aren’t even really that scratched either.

My e-ring is 14k rose gold and I’ve had it for 6 months now. The other is a 10k rose gold ring I wear on my right hand and I’ve had it for over a year now. Neither of them are showing discoloration or scratching like you described with yours. It sounds like PPs are right with their guessing that your ring may be plated instead of solid rose gold. Rose gold is the most durable gold I believe (I think it’s because it has the most copper) so I don’t think it should be showing that wear.

Sorry, bee! Take it to the jeweler!

I agree with everyone else, it sounds like it’s plated rose gold. I’ve had this happen with Michael Kors bracelets.

Mine is 18k rose gold and it’s scratched up a bit on the bottom for sure but it definitely hasn’t changed color. That looks plated. 🙁

That looks plated to me.
