I recently got engaged and went ring shopping to pick my ring with my partner. I have always worn yellow gold so was surprised to find I didn’t like the yellow gold solitaire I had in mind as I thought it was too yellow. I did like the white gold version which surprised me as I had never liked silvery tones. The jeweller advised me that they could also make the ring in rose gold if I wanted. I can’t decide! I’m worried I’m just going with white gold because it’s everywhere at the moment but also worry rose gold might not look great with a white diamond or that I’ll get sick of it? What is everyone’s preference? Would really appreciate any advice! Below is my hand with white and rose gold – I am very pale with neutral undertones (I think) and never tan.
Thanks your help and advice!

I voted rose gold simply because I’ve been infatuated with it for a while lol. My ring happens to be platinum (it was a surprise), but I would have heavily leaned toward rose gold if I had picked it. I do admit part of me wonders if I would tire of it because it’s “trendy”, but I still think it’s beautiful. I actually think diamonds, especially pave bands, look lovely in it. The contrast in color really makes the diamonds pop.

I’m pale like you and have a white gold ring. I have a lot of yellow gold and rose gold jewelry. I like my white gold. White gold is dipped in rhodium, to make it that shiny silver. When the rhodium wears off, you’ll see the actual color. It’s more buttery, because gold is yellow and the mix it with other metals to get it white.
My mom was surprised it was white gold, in person. In photos, it reflects my skin, so looks pretty pink.
I’m thinking of getting a rose gold spacer when I get my wedding band to have a lovely stack.

I did rose gold because it looked so much better with my stone (sapphire) but we did white gold prongs to allow a little more light through and to not alter the color of the sapphire. I also love rose gold jewelry, and it looks really good with my skin tone! I think it really depends on when you find your diamond, what looks best in it.

I absolutely love rose gold! But my ering is in platinum, so I eventually moved to a platinum band.

Like you, I’m quite pale and my daughter says that wg/platinum rings look the best on me. Go with what speaks to you.

What color is the stone you want? If you are getting a D-G, I would get white gold. H onwards, go for rose gold

I personally wear platinum but I have allergies. If I didn’t, rose gold would be my choice! Trendy or not. I have loved it for years. But i think if you had a big reaction to the white gold then stick with that. Who cares if everyone else is wearing white metals? It’s super pretty and I love my set in it 🙂

You can go down in color in rose gold if you get a great cut. That’s a bonus!

Glad you found a ring you love!
We all have different taste and need to get what WE want, not what the internet tells us to do 😛

I thought I wanted white gold too..until I tried on the rose gold! I’m very pale so it works well. I know a lot of people said it is “trendy”, but I’ve done some research and it looks like rose gold comes in and out of style all the time. It’s gorgeous! And, you can get a lower color grade because the rose reflects the color well.

I knew I wanted a solitaire on yellow gold… here’s my ring to give some inspiration! I would vote against rose gold because I feel it’s trendy right now and might go out of fashion in a few years, but that’s just me. I do think it’s really pretty but I’ve always been a classic, yellow gold kind of person
