I prefer peachy or pink stones in rose gold. I just don’t think the rose gold and yellow compliment one another all that well. Neither seems to really bring out the best in the other.

I like yellow and yellowish stones in yellow gold.

How about yellow gold around the stone and white gold everywhere else? I’ve seen that for colored stones (I think even Tiffany sets some yellow diamonds that way) and it looks GREAT!

@soontobemrsm11:  I think it will look amaaze!  You should def go with what YOU like. Everyone & their mother tried talking me out of yellow, but I couldn’t be happier & am so glad I followed my heart!  I also think the rose gold will compliment the yellow & bring out its color even more.

@soontobemrsm11:  I think white gold & yellow gold are an awesome combo…obvi…it’s what I got, too! 🙂

Does rose gold have to be re-dipped like white gold?  Anybody know?  I’ve been eyeing the new rose gold fad, but just wanted more information on the metal before I buy any rose gold jewelry.

@JaneyDcat:  It does not. Rose gold is a mix of gold and copper, and is not coated with anything else. It’s impossible to get bright bright white by mixing a yellow and white metal together, which is why a lot of white gold is rhodium plated.

From the pendant pick above, yellow stones and rose gold look great. I love rose gold, the 10K gold, which is more pink than yellow. I have pale skin too and it does blend in…but I like that subtle look from time to time. I did pick platinum for my wedding rings, because of the beauty of the white satiny finish it has. No up-keeping!

My rose gold band I wear from time to time because I love this dainty set so much!

Looks like you’ve already chosen, but there are some white gold alloys that do not require rhodium plating (they’re naturally white).  If it’s not too late, check with your jeweler to see if you can get one of those.
