Yep, I used them on the aisle of my ceremony. They were fresh rose petals.

@Sweetescape1976:  I am thinking about doing this myself. Could you share how much this cost you?

@Meant2Bee:  I didn’t DIY on this, so the only thing I can tell you is how much my florist charged. It was $220.00 to line the sides of the runner with fresh rose petals. She used 150 roses to do this. However, I know you can probably do it for much cheaper. You mentioned silk rose petals which is a great idea and will cost you much less as well. Here is a website that I’ve used before to get the petals.

@jesssamesssa:  Check out weddingbound’s posts. She DIYed her aisle runner. She covered the whole thing, but I bet she can give you advice on how to do it!

This is mine.  It took about 20 packages of dollar store petals (300/$1 package).  I hot glued them onto a craft paper base.  It is about 30′ long including the opening/curly part.  The time to make it was about the length of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

@wabanzi:  Not only is your DIY petal runner fabulous, but so is your time measuring standard! 😀

Consider buying direct… could be a lot better deal than thru a Florist.

I did a quick GOOGLE and found this distributor…

http://www.wholeblossoms.com/17-wholesale-rose-petals.html

At a LOW price of $ 129.99 you can get 6,000 White & Red Petals

(White & Red, I am guessing as the most popular colours for Roses)

Other colours also available starting at $ 99.00 per batch (batch sizes may differ)

Hope this helps,

@MlleFabuleux:  Thanks! All my DIYs are measured with movies. Good thing Netflix has no online limits!

Yeah, I was going to attempt the petal runner, I got about 8 ft in and decided that it would look out of place at my venue.. since my walkway will be brick – outside.

I’m just going to buy roses [or petals], and put them on the sides of the aisle as PP did.

I am doing a flower petal runner, not just the sides, the whole thing. It is the most tedious, time consuming DIY I have taken on (and likely will take on) for the wedding. I started off thinking ‘oh, it’ll be quick! I’ve just gotta hot glue gun petals to tulle’ but no, it’s not quick, it has taken me MONTHS and I’m only two thirds of the way done.

I swear, this thing had want to look amaing!

I bought $50 worth of freeze-dried rose petals (real petals, just preserved – once you take them out of the bag they soften and smell amazing!! and can be stored for months before your wedding, I ordered mine 3-4 months in advance) and my day-of coordinator scattered them along our aisle. I love the romantic, scattered look – and I loved smelling the fresh petals during the ceremony! Here’s a couple photos of our aisle:

(P.S. I ordered our petals from Flyboy Naturals, I stalked their website for awhile until they had a sale. I wasn’t sure which colors to order so I ordered a few sample packets before I placed our whole big $50 order. I can’t remember how their prices compared to the other companies, I was also looking at Wholeblossms and Fiftyflowers but I think Flyboy was cheaper. That was a year ago so I’m not sure where you can get the best deal now.)
