Hi everybody. Hope those happily married ones out there can help me out with this. I just decided and order my wedding dress this past weekend. The dress has a slightly longer than chapel train. I’m not sure if this is a naive question or not (and never paid much attention before), but I’m seriously wondering how the rose petals on the aisle will look after I walk on them with my train down the aisle. Will they all get swept under the train??

Are you using real petals?

I had a pretty long train, and our petals looked pretty much exactly the same after I walked down the aisle. We had a pretty thick covering of petals though, almost all of the 260 cups of petals we got from Fifty Flowers were used on the aisle. Maybe with a more sparse sprinkling of petals it would be more noticable after everyone walks.
Oh, and I bet it matters if your petals are going to be scattered on grass or on a wood or carpeted aisle. Ours were on grass, and the texture probably helped hold them in place.

I’m planning to use real petals and my ceremony is actually outside so maybe the grass will help the petals stay on the ground?

My ceremony will be outdoors, on a golf course, but I’m planning to have a white aisle runner (so I guess the answer is some type of fabric). And yes, I’m using real rose petals.
That’s great to hear that the grass helps the petals stay put, maybe I should consider not having the aisle runner… hm… or maybe just LOTS of rose petals. Haha!

from what i’ve seen if its real petals on grass they tend to stay on the ground much better than if its on a polished floor indoors.

We had petals “sprinkled” by our flower girl on an aisle runner. The petals were not caught up under my gown and it was cathedral length. The only problem I had was when my hubby and I went back down the aisle and my gown pulled the aisle runner back a bit. My Dad came to the rescue and fixed it though!

Im so glad someone asked this question! I have been wondering about it for ages…I also considered just scattering the rose petals on the sides of the aisle so that there is a clear patch to walk through…but I so love the look of an aisle covered with petals.

im glad i found this thread! ive been wondering whether to scatter petals or line the aisle (in two straight lines) and ive been worried they could get caught up in my train
