What are we talking about here?  Are you saying you want these thrown/blown when you walk out of the church/reception hall?  Or is this for the flower girl as she walks down the aisle?  I need a little more info…

I think rose petals are better 🙂 That’s just me, though! Only downside is they tend to be pricey, compared to bubbles.

I like bubbles. I guess it depends on what vibe you are going for.

I did see a bird’s eye view by a photographer of the couple kissing and all the guests circled around them. Everything was black and white, except for the rose petals they were throwing. I really liked that.

logistically I thought bubbles would be easier…buy a pack and hand them out.  But since then I’ve started to have mixed feelings about them…so we’ve decided to go more traditional with petals.

I really don’t think you can go wrong with a choice like this.  I’ve seen it done both ways and it’s great.  If you are going for more low key and fun, bubbles might be more appropriate.  If you’re going for more romantic and traditional, then rose petals might be better.  But as others have said, rose petals are a lot more expensive than bubbles.  And rose petals have to be cleaned up.

@HisIrishPrincess:  Ooh great point! I totally voted for roses, but bubbles is now sounding way more enticing. 🙂

I’d go with petals, but make sure they are the kind that won’t stain your clothes. I know bubbles have no clean up, but the bubble solution can stain clothes if they pop… It’s more noticeable on dark clothing- you can see little dark circles.

I think rose petals will look better in pictures. However, most venues have rules against anything you have to clean up. I’m a big fan of of the ribbon wands or the Yay flag. We had Yay flags and loved the pictures!

@conkin420:  I did make them myself. I bought flags from Oriental Trading. Cut and filed off the pointy end. Used iron-on transfers to put Yay on one side (used 4 different fonts) and our names and wedding date on the other side (have to be put on at the same time). I used little eyelet hooks and screwed them into the top of the dowel (1- drill little tiny holes of the wood will split 2- screw it in through the fabric). Then I tied ribbons on to the eyelet. Another tip–to keep the fabric from falling off the dowel, I put a little glue on the wood before putting the fabric back on)
