My boyfriend and I are looking into rings and I can’t decide if I want a round or oval halo. Any pictures and opinions would be appreciated! We’ve especially been looking at james allen, since we’re trying to keep our cost down

I think a round diamond and halo are less likely to go out of style. Personally I would rather look at something simpler like a round halo because I’m afraid I’d get sick of an oval.

Depends on your personal taste. A round halo is timeless, but it can be a little plain and common. I see more rounds than ovals. An oval halo gives you a classic look with a little uniqueness.

I LOVE my oval. I had the same worries, but I’m so glad I decided on an oval. Mine is 9×7, so the LxW ratio is only about 1.3, meaning it’s not a very pronounced oval

I like both but some fingers really benefit from the elongated look of an oval.
Just my $0.02.

I have a round halo but I absolutely love oval halos too. An upside to oval diamonds is that they cost less than rounds so you can get more for your money, not to mention they are unique but still classic if that makes sense. Either choice will be lovely!
Here’s my round plain shank halo with a 1.65 carat center.

I was torn between those two cuts also i loved the look of the oval but couldnt get past the bowtie effect i saw it in every single oval i looked at. i ended up with a round as it was the best value and our sales lady told us that because it the most sellable cut it holds its value best when trying to upgrade if i wanted to do that in the future. Best thing to do is go to a jewler and try the two cuts to see which appeals to you more in person. that being said this is what im dreaming of for an upgrade a fancy yellow oval in a split shank halo setting!

So I initially thought I wanted an oval halo. I love them and still do, but when I went to try it on, I really didn’t like how it looked on my chubby fingers. Most people say it elongates the fingers but it did not do so for me. I tried on round halos and loved it. So I went with a round halo and I am so happy!
So my advice is to definitely go to a store and try rings on. You may be surprised! You can always purchase from James allen after you try on different styles in stores. That is what we did!

I love oval, but I think I would go round.

Try them on! Had no idea how much better an oval looked on my hand than a round until I did.

Im all for round halos! Surpringly, no one in my two areas of living (tallahassee and toronto) has even seen a ring like mine and i find it VERY common online. simple, petite halo with pave shank.
I think its timeless, classic, vintage-y and modern all at once!
