oluwafemio :  I know moissanite co has been having some really bad issues right now with quality control and using lab diamonds in settings that were supposed to have natural diamonds and they always seem to make it sound like the customers problem!

I know there are a few amazing jewlers that aome of the bees on here have used..

one is true gem company anoth is Joseph shuebach ( I don’t know if I spelled it correct!)

and right now I am in contact with David klass getting started on a custom mommas ring!

I know he has made some gorgeous moissy engagement rings for bees on here too!

oluwafemio :  So I’ve been looking for a round moissanite too. I also feel like I’ve researched every single option out there, and I’d like to bang my head up against a wall with you. Lol.

First off, I am not a fan of MoCo, for the reasons listed by PP above. I’ve contributed to and started my own threads about their horrible business ethics and lack of integrity. Having said that, I agree with a lot of their response. I planned on buying a Harro initially, because I wanted an elongated cushion. Their ACC is to die for too. But I think their are better options for a round. The only thing I disagree with Chris about is the F1. Lots of people love threw. I’m not a fan. Same as you, the disco ball effect and the flat crown. Yes, diamonds have fire too but to me it’s more lively instead of in your face. Scintillation vs fire if that makes sense.

Now with LaurenB, I got quotes from them for both settings and loose stones. They are grossly overpriced. You can order directly from Harro for much less. Harro actually posted a crushed ice round test cut on their Instagram page, so they’re wrong about that too. And an OEC is NOT THE SAME as crushed ice. They aren’t even remotely close, so I’m not sure where in the world they got that.

The Harro is a round brilliant and the F1 is a H&A, and I struggled with the differences for a long time. Finally after months of research I decided I prefer he H&A so that’s a big factor too. Which cut is your eye drawn to? The splintery glitter of the round brilliant or the larger crisper facets of the H&A? I wanted the NEO for a long time but after seeing videos from other Bees and getting opinions from some that had also purchased them, I was underwhelmed. I got a cheap one from China too so I could see the cut and I hated it. That’s when I decided I needed a H&A. The NEO and Chinese round brilliant looked flat and dead/lifeless to me. Just my opinion ๐Ÿ™‚

Thats when I started researching the Amora Gem. They’re expensive and rare, but so far from what I’ve seen they outperform the others. It’s a H&A, but it’s the closest to a diamond I’ve seen. I know you can’t capture it in videos and pics, and I need to order one for myself, but that’s my pick.

Also, MoCo is not the only retailer for F1 H&A! If you don’t wanna use them, there are PLENTY of other people to give your money to. You can even order direct from C&C. Fire & Brilliance has great customer service too from what ive heard! As far as colorless vs near colorless, I prefer a G or H because to me the colorless looks fluorescent and blinding white to me too. I’ll also have a halo with G/H melee and I want the center to match.

FWIW, I’ll also have David Klass make my setting. He’s amazing and everything you’ve read about him is true. He just can’t source a stone for you.

Everyone is different so at the end of the day you just need to make sure YOU love it and that’s all that matters. If you think a lump of salt is beautiful, set it and rock it! A lot of people love the F1 but it’s not for me personally. Luckily there are all kinds of options!

Sorry this is so long! If you have any questions for me please ask! ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you seen The True Gem company? I believe they also work with C&C’s H&A, and I can attest to their craftsmanship. It’s amazing. I’ve had my ring from them for a little over a month now and the thing is a total stunner. I picked them because they use moissy and lab diamonds, and all their gold/platinum is recycled. Plus their designs are to die for! Lol

Anyway, they have my vote for a company with strong ethics and a stunning product. ๐Ÿ’–

I ordered a few loose stones, including a Harro,  and  kept the one I liked the best. All of these companies have a restocking fee so I spent maybe an extra $200-300 on restocking fees, but for me that was worth it.  I liked pictures of the Harro but my favorite was a certified F1. I would suggest the certified route, I got one that was D color VVS1. I love it!

Just thought I would put my two cents in. When deciding on my own ring, I looked mostly at Harro Gem and The True Gem – the former will give you a discount if you e-mail them, the latter are SO lovely and friendly. I was between these two when I heard//found out about Zen Moissanite – this is who I ended up going with, due to finding their stones the most colourless of the three. Take a look at their instagram, Jennifer posts loads of pics and videos ๐Ÿ™‚

True gem will make the whole ring for you (they carry their own line of moissanite as well as F1) whereas Zen only cuts the stones.

Sorry if that complicated your choice!!

oluwafemio :  If you can wait until Sept and be ok with a 1 carat max, Lightbox/Debeers is offering 1 carat *synthetic* genuine Diamonds for $800….

If you can’t wait or really want a simulant, there are plenty of other moissanite vendors. As pp said,  I would avoid Moissanite.co based on several recent threads about their business practices.  Do a search here and you will see.

Hi! I just saw your thread. Like you, I was initially interested in the Harro gem, but never got to see one, so I do not know how they look like, aside from videos. Moissanites can look very different in videos than IRL. If you would like to order the Harro, then I would highly recommend Isabelle from Tresors du Jour. She is a pleasure to work with and is also very knowledgeable.

I was fortunate to see the new MoCo H&A and I have to say it is quite beautiful. It does not have a rainbow effect at all if this is what you are worried about and it is very well cut. It has a faceted girdle, which very few moissanites have. I did find the F1 H&A very fiery, and while it was very crip (in a good way — and so is the MoCo H&A with regards to clarity), I did not care as much as I thought I would for the F1 H&A cut. It was a bit too fiery for me, but I saw it under LED lights. So, I would highly recommend the MoCo H&A over the F1 H&A.

I personally have had a very pleasant experience with MoCo, I have found Chris to be extremely knowledgeable, patient with all of my questions and very pleasant to work with.

bloom15 :  When you say “new” MoCo H&A, is that something that’s available now or something that isn’t out yet? I’m on the hunt for a H&A but have some time to wait if it’s coming out soon!
