Hi all!
This is my first post on here, so please be gentle with me
I’m interested in a round moissanite ring. My boyfriend and I, aka I , have decided we should design the ring together to really make it what we want. I’ve narrowed it down to a C&C Hearts and Arrow or a Harro Gem brilliant cut for the center stone. I didn’t want a diamond because I’m Nigerian and the diamond industry has really done a lot of damage to Africa and I don’t want to contribute any more to that. However, I still love the look of a diamond ring and think it’s so classic, so I still want a stone that looks like a diamond.
I’m not going to try to pass off my stone as a diamond, I just don’t want a stone that will make people I have cubic zirconia, when in reality it is much more expensive than that, and I don’t want my boyfriend’s money to be spent in vain! Price isn’t really an issue, I definitely have a high enough budget, but I really don’t want a diamond like I said above. But I want the best stone I can get!
I’ve seen some posts on here about this topic but I still have some questions compiled from all of the posts I’ve read on the two stones.
I’m concerned that the H&A gem might look too crisp, like almost high contrast, so white that it looks fluorescent, that it’ll be too disco bally, and that the crown is too flat. I’m also concerned that the Harro gem might look blurry and not be as pretty or steely and grey as the H&A.
It’s really hard to see them both in person because I live in Indianapolis and all the jewellry stores just carry Forever One’s.
If anyone could please give me some advice I would really appreciate it. I think I’ve honestly read everything I can online about these two and I’m starting to feel like I’m banging my head against the wall about it.
Also, I’ve started the process of designing my ring and the only hold up I have now is on the stoneeeeeee. I’ve been in touch with both Lauren B and MoissaniteCo and I got two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT responses about the Harro Gem.
My convo with Moissanite Co (which was a TOTAL ROAST OF HARRO GEM):
“I would say that overall they [the Harro gem] have just less sparkle due to inferior cutting, but I wouldn’t say that its a good thing. In general the biggest thing I notice about the Chinese made Moissanite, Harro included, is that they don’t look as crisp (if not slightly blurry look) when compared side by side with the C&C F1 Moissanites.
But I also don’t believe the F1 H&A cut has too much fire. In fact I only see a lot of fire when directly under LED lighting, but diamonds also exhibit a lot of fire under LED’s.
We find the harro gem stone inferior and actually more expensive to purchase, and so we don’t keep any in stock (why offer an inferior stone that costs more?). Unfortunately we are not going to be able to buy one from overseas to make a comparison video because the source doesn’t allow returns. But what you can expect is
1) much thinner arrows
2) less crisp cut overall and somewhat foggy appearance
3) not truly colorless (G/H color, not D-F). Harro claims all of their stones are colorless, but they aren’t. But G/H is pretty white and so they tend to get away with it.”
And then my convo with Lauren B:
“I think the more diamond like is the harro gem because it will have less fire but both of the options are great and no, round does not come crushed ice but you can do something called old european cut and its kind of the same.”
Lauren B’s instagram is amazing and they make incredible jewellry so I’m having a hard time thinking they will sell an inferior stone!! However, lots of ladies on here have purchased their moissy rings from MoissaniteCo, so they definitely should know what they’re talking about. I don’t know, please help me out everyone!
