@moconnolly: Hi I’m 9/7/12 at Round Hill. my name is Jen. Have you booked?  If you want to swap ideas or thpughts feel free to PM me. Laughing

Peter doesn’t seem flexable with keeping the bar open. I have not really tried but whn we went for the tasting they say that I could continue to drink with wedding party but not the guest.

Hi ladies. I’m 9/21/12 at RH and have had the booze convo with Peter too. They seem to be pretty set on only wine for the 5th hour, but he did say everyone in the wedding party etc can continue drinking until the party is over.

I actually like the thought of guests having to slow down the drinking during the last hour because I have some heavy drinkers and an hour of sobering up seems a good idea for those driving home after. Anyone who REALLY needs a 5th hour cocktail I imagine I can just get something for them – as long as they’re not completely hammered lol.

Have you had any luck with finding overnight accomodations nearby?

I’m also still looking for hair/makeup people – how are you guys doing with those?

@FMCollado:

Hey there! I have hair but not makeup. I live in the Hudson valley so my good friend/regular hair dresser is doing it for me. I am having a hard time getting makeup artist to return calls. I’m taking note but not stressing.. yet lol We have a photographer but not DJ…. And a dress I have my dress! What are you doing for favors?

Accommodations are a little tricky. Most of our friends are from Middletown. Future Father-In-Law owns the car service we are using but I’m not sure any guest (other than the handful of Out of Town guest) would rent a room in Goshen or Chester rather than just drive home.

I’m Jen by the way  =)

Hi Jen! I’m Jem lol.

I’ve been chatting with a hair person I think will work out. I’m having my trial with her in March tho (I’m doing a boudoir shoot then) so I won’t firm her up until then. Hopefully she’s as awesome as she seems 🙂

I just started looking for makeup people but I’m not a makeup girl AT ALL so I’m at a total disadvantage lol. My sister, who’s a total diva, is luckily helping out in this department. I’ll let you know if we come across anyone good.

I think you saw my other post about Chris Carter photography who just really vibed with well so I think we’re ready to sign on the dotted line. He has shot a bunch of weddings at RH so he knows the sweetspots and seems open to my ocd micromanaging lol. No DJ for us either I put the FH in charge of this…for better or worse lol.

I have my dress too!!! I’ve actually had it since March which is insane but it just happened and I’m obsessed with it.

We’re not doing flowers in our wedding (at all) so our centerpieces will be candles in vases, jars, glass holders, etc. We’re also doing long banquet tables, which apparently is a first at RH, so we’ll be doing assigned seating. Our favors are votive candles with each guests names on them that will also serve as placecards. We got them from etsy (natch!) and I looove them: http://www.etsy.com/listing/80508719/sale-100-place-card-name-card-escort

We’re from the city as are most of our guests so I think with our reception ending at midnight, I have to look into overnight accomodations for people. Peter actually suggested the Homesuites by Hilton by the airport as they offer a shuttle to RH so we’re looking into that.

I’ve been engaged since Nov ’10 so we’ve been working on the wedding for a while  but it’s soooo exciting now being on this end of the one-year mark.My big project right now is figuring the layout of the dining room since they’ve only ever used round tables and it’s a fun challenge. How is your planning moving along??

Oh, boudoir photo shoot! How awesome! I thought about doing one but I’m on the fence.

I hope your hair dresser works out. I have curly hair so formal hair styles can be a little stressful. I moved up from Manhattan in my 20’s so finding a good hair dresser in the sticks was a big deal, I’m lucky to have her!

I tried to put Fiance on DJ duty… I’ll let you know how that works out lol

Yay for loving your dress! I just got my dress last week. I’m plus size so finding shops that had the dresses I wanted to try on took some time. Well “my” dress landed up being one of the first dresses I tried on. I guess I didn’t think it could be that easy so I kept looking.  I realized that I already loved a dress I just didn’t love the dress shop that had it. so I figured I should buy it from a shop I was more comfortable with.  I probably would have purchased it sooner believe me when I tell you I went dress shopping a week after I got the ring! =)

Using banquet tables sound nice. I always love the center pieces on long tables; they always seem to allow for more creativity.  Are you doing anything instead of bouquets?  We are using minimal amount of flowers. A friends mother is a florist.

The candles are lovely and such a neat idea! We wanted to do something edible like chocolate covered pretzels but I’m not sure about all the work having to be done right before the wedding. I can see a project like that getting stressful.

Are you getting married on site? We wanted to at first but now we are toying with the idea of using an old stone church in the area. http://www.cragsmoorstonechurch.org/zenphoto/patricia-peters/img_9937_2.jpg.php

I guess we don’t have as much done as we should. We have lot’s of ideas but we have to start making some decisions. We got engaged in February 2011. I feel like everyone tells me to slow down because I have plenty of time. My new attitude is why wait! =)

I have craaazy curly hair too! It can be blow-dried straight but the mere mention or moisture/humidity makes it curl right back up again lol.

I’m getting my girls minaudiere’s – those hard case little clutches – and I’m thinking I’ll either put their monograms or some design on the corners with swarovskis. They’re from etsy too (that site is DANGEROUS): http://www.etsy.com/listing/73844739/the-vivien-minaudiere-in-tiffany-blue

My colors are wasabi and gunmetal, and the girls are wearing grey dresses so we’ll do the clutches in the green.

I had the same thing when I bought my dress – a kind of uneasiness that it had been soooo easy lol. Especially after hearing so many horror stories about wedding dress shopping. And I didn’t end up spending an arm and a leg either. I guess we got lucky!!

We are having the ceremony onsite. We’re of different religions so didn’t want to go thru the hassle of figuring a church wedding situation. We’re asking one of our friends to marry us. That is a BEAUTIFULLLLLL church. Are they available on your day?

We’re just starting the phase of actually talking out all of our ideas (why are there soooooo many cool diy ideas out there???) and deciding which ones are feasible and which ones we need to skip. We’re trying to stay away from any projects that have to be left to riight before the wedding. I’m a giant spazz and can just see the horrors that would result from that lol.

Can you get the chocolate covered pretzels from a store? Maybe in bulk from BJs or Costco? Or have your bridal party take that job over?
