lenapie :  wow! I’ve never seen a delicate halo before. I have a cushion cut and have always gone back and forth on whether I should’ve had a halo. Yours makes me want one 😍😍

morningcoffee :  I had the same dilemma, too! Cushions face up quite a bit smaller than rounds and we didn’t want to push the budget too much so we couldn’t get a larger cushion. We ended up putting a halo on it to boost finger coverage. I wanted to make sure the halo would not take away from the center stone, so I went with a delicate one, which is reminiscent of the Tacori 2620.

I’m a sucker for cushions or ovals. They weren’t making oval amora gems at the time I got engaged, so I ended up with a 9.7×9.6mm cushion. My band has six 15 pointer diamonds in it- ring size 5.75. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Before looking at engagement rings, I was set on round. After looking at cushions I fell in love.  Mine is 1.31 center cushion cut H VS1. πŸ’

I love how vintage cushion cuts are! They are gorgeous! Mine is a 1.15 carat cushion cut on a size 4.5 finger.

I love cushion cut but my fiance loved the round cut so we compromised with round cut in cushion halo and couldn’t be happier πŸ™‚

I had my mom’s round diamond ring as an option, but once I saw cushion cuts I could never go back. 1.1 on a 5.5 finger.

I have been struggling with the same choice!! Like the others have said, round diamonds tend to look bigger and they have more sparkle.  But I do love cushions, so my compromise is going to be getting a round cut with 4 prongs (that will make it look a little more square).  6 prongs will def make it look more round.  Good luck!

Cushion is gorgeous! But Rounds are classic so it’s a hard decision. If budget is a concern, you can find cushions at a great deal.

lenapie‘s correct about the cushion size and cut (I loooove your ring by the way – great diamond, and love the August Vintage!).  You’ll need more carat weight to acheive the same spread as a round, and shopping for an ideal cut may take a bit more effort.  I ended up going with a round – partially for the reasons above – and set it in a cushion halo to get the feel of the cushion shape (coincidentally – the Tacori 2620) with the brilliance of a round stone.
