I was never able to decide which cut I wanted but my DH made it easy by surprising me with a 3.02 ct cushion!  Here is its original setting and then re-set into a yellow gold halo πŸ™‚

Here’s my 1.8 carat cushion (I want to say it’s around 7.5 x 7.5 mm?) I think both would look gorgeous on you. My Fiance completely surprised me with the ring-we hadn’t even looked at any together, but I’m super happy with my cushion! Even though it doesn’t have as much finger coverage as a round with the same carat weight, it’s a really unique choice as a solitaire.

    Lovely rings ladies ❀️❀️❀️

Oops forgot to add I’m a size five!

First off, ladies, beautiful rings! I love these threads and all the shiny baubles πŸ™‚

My original engagement ring was a RB and I never really loved the setting my Fiance and I originally picked out together, it was the best option of what we could afford. One day my Fiance and I were in a position to look at different options and I never thought I liked cushions and then I fell in love! We chose a small halo (.23 ctw for the mounting) with a 1.63 ct 7.46 x 6.54 mm, modified cushion cut. This is my forever ring on my size 5.75 finger – I vote cushion all day long.

Cushions are beautiful, but I went with round because they shine brighter that all other shapes; they also measure larger than cushion stones. The only draw back, was, that round stones cost much much more. I originally wanted oval, yet I felt like I would always still want round at the end of the day, so thats why my fiance got me.

I have a double edge, double halo, with triple row micro pavé down the shanks. My center is 1.37ct and my twc. is 2.4ct. my entire ring has G colored diamonds, the smaller stones are VS, and my center is SI1. My ring had a total of 243 stones. I”m a size 9.

I was always a big fan of the cushion cuts and in the end, that’s what I ended up with. I got mine quite a few years ago when there weren’t as many cushions around and I just liked that they were different.

At 1.0 carats, my ring is not as big as others on the board but I love it. It’s also a modified cushion (Birks amorique) so it has more of a crushed ice look.

I have the best of two worlds!

I have a round 2 ct diamond in a more cushion cut form of halo, FH designed ot with a jeweler because I was like you, I liked them both, so he said not to worry that he was in charge now and this was my beautiful surprise!

    My ginger is a 5.5

I loved the cushion but have decided on the round because from what I understand rounds will generally be shinier. Does anyone know if the checkerboard cut is the same as the cushion cut? Is it true that a round diamond shines more if the clarity is the same?

Remember to take into consideration that a cushion will face up smaller than a round.  I like both but preferred the round on my hand.

So many gorgeous rings!!! πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’ I struggled with this also! πŸ€” I thought I was dead set on a cushion or radiant until I saw them compared with the sparkle of a round. I also liked that rounds face up bigger. In the end, my Fiance picked my dream ring! I too have a RB in a cushion halo. We’ve only been engaged since Dec 16. πŸ’•My center stone is 1.51 cts but people always guess it’s at least 2 cts! My ring tcw is a little over 3 cts on my 5.5 finger. It’s sized to a 6 with bishop bumps because I have such big knuckles!

Whatever you guys chose, I’m sure you’ll be in love like I am πŸ™‚ With your ring, since we obviously already love our men! πŸ˜‰

Ps Does anyone else’s pictures upload sideways?

siobhan00 :  Hey! I’m not sure what you mean by checker board cut but I’m aware of round diamonds. When it comes to a round shape, they tend to shine much brighter and whiter than other shapes in diamonds. They’re also much more popular and therefore they tend to be much more expensive. Also with a round diamond you may want to focus on the cut more so than the clarity because the better the cut the better the brilliance. However, when it comes to clarity I wouldn’t go any lower than an SI1 because you don’t want to run the risk of seeing inclusions in your stone.
