nahsnyc :  I agree. For both shapes the cut is important when it comes to the sparkle factor – cushions also show more inclusions so clarity also plays an important role. I still think with the right cut cushion it will sparkle it’s butt off 🙂

I have never met a diamond that i didnt like ;), but I have a preference for round. My goal was to stay classic (as I have met many people who loved their ring when they got it, but 10-20 years down the line hated it and got a new one and I didn’t want to do that), but I still wanted a modern twist and a little uniqueness which in my case came in the form of two tone metal (rose gold band, white gold basket) and a scroll detailing on the side and diamonds set into the basket on the side making a “hidden Mickey”. I call it my mullet ring- classic from the top, party on the sides! haha

Anyway, go with your gut! It will be beautiful no matter what!

Here is mine- 1.5 carat center stone, ~ 2 carat total weight on my large 7.5 finger.

(sorry for the pic quality/color- my phone broke the day after my engagement and ended up messing with the camera color a bit. I really should edit these but I am lazy haha)

roseytash :  I have an almost identical ring, down to the stone size. I absolutely love it.

I was torn and then I realized that I liked both equally, but rounds often cost more than cushions. Decision made!
