mzburrell504:  I don’t know where you could find a royal blue tux or suit but I would recommend maybe doing a suit with a royal blue vest & tie. That’s what we’re having our groomsmen wear. Here’s a picture and we used Savvi. I don’t know if this is an option you like. My camera washed the color out some but it’s true royal blue in person.

agree… an entire suit that color is a LOT of blue.  I think it may look overwhelming.  I do know when I was in high school (15 or so years ago), the guys could get some pretty bright suits, but swing was back in style at the time.  I don’t know if it’s still the case anywhere.

Is your Fiance on board with such an unusual color for a tuxedo?

Even a matching vest and tie can look a bit “prom-ish” rather than the elegant look that most people are going for when they choose to have the men wear tuxedos.

The Black Tux has a midnight blue tuxedo which can incorporate blue but still be elegant.

If you really want royal blue, have you tried doing a Google Search or done the same on Google Shopping?

So I may be the only one that thinks a royal blue velvet tux would be veryyyyyyyyy chic! Its a prime example of how you can take a retro idea and make it contemporary. also, I just bought a pair of blue suade shoes so I may be bias. You could also just do a blue jacket and a black pant. Soooooooooooo much more fashion forward than those cheesy white tuxs IMO

I hate to say it, but I like the idea even less now that some pictures are on this thread.  That is so, so blue!  And the top one makes me think he’s just in a smoking jacket, ready to pull out his pipe and some port.

Bee, if it suits you, go for it.  It will certainly be unique.

skunktastic:  Particularly  the ones in this new  fashion of looking a size or two too small. Bad enough on slight men, but on a man  of any size … just no.

As a pp said , I hope  OP’s fi is really OK with this…….

What’s the difference between navy and royal blue? I thought they were about the same.

Mens wearhouse use has blue suits for rent.

I love navy blue as an idea but not royal blue.

mzburrell504:  I like the idea of another color other than black or white, and am kinda so-so about  blue in particular, but I think that’s because I personally don’t really like blue.

I think that it depends on how you do it, and what particular shade you pick. Like, I wouldn’t have that cookie-cutter obvious decor style where everything is just two colors.

Out of Mrs. Neutrino’s pictures, I think that #1 &#2 look modern and do-able, but I wouldn’t touch #3.

I would definitely go with a slim fit style when using a color that bold or different.

There are plenty of suits in blue online and in shops. We don’t tend to wear tuxedos to weddings in the UK. My Fiance doesn’t fancy the morning suit/tails that is often used for weddings but a sharp blue suit looks great I think. Do you definitely want a tux or would a suit and waistcoat be suitable? This is what we are going for…

snpmarin:  Royal blue ( invented for Princess Anne actually , whose title  is The Princess Royal) is seriously bright  as in the pcs posted   by msneutrino above .  Navy is a dark blue,  can be very dark, almost black, or a little lighter like indigo , but always a dark blue .
