@knittylady:  I just started – per JHoller.  She recommends the organic RJ in honey.  You can buy it on amazon (I think she provides a link), but I bought mine (same brand) at GNC because I didn’t want to wait/pay shipping.  It actually tastes *really* good.  I make my husband take it too, as it is supposed to do amazing things for swimmer quantity and quality…

I bought the kind that’s mixed with honey, from GNC.  It says to “take with water” which I find confusing.  And they stress not to take it with hot water (so don’t mix with tea, for example.)  What I do is, on an empty stomache I eat a scoop with a small spoon and then drink some room temp. water.  It’s pretty yummy.  I bought this last month and didn’t give me the magic BFP I was secretly hoping for.

@lilybugg78:  That is exactly what I do.  Sometimes I skip the water.

my acupunturist recommends not taking it unless you have a longer cycle, where the LH surge is after day 16.  So FWIW, that’s her opinion on the subject..

@smokingpoint:  Do you know why that is?  I do have a longer cycle, but did not come across this in any of my research.

I used capsules.

Don’t know if they helped or if it was just a coincidence, but I got BFP the first month I was on it. (Our 3rd month TTC.)

This is what I used: http://www.vitacost.com/ys-eco-bee-farms-royal-jelly-1000-mg-30-softgels  (They reformulated recently, the old formula did not have soybean oil. If I were to use it againin the future, I’d seek out a source without soybean oil.)

@smokingpoint  – Did your acupunturist say why she only recommended it for longer cycles? I’ve always been under the impression it’s good for everyone.

@septcabride – I don’t know, I’ll see her Monday and I can ask.  When she told  me she said, “in my experience this is how I see it work best”.  She’s from China, studied there, and I think has worked in the US for about 8 years.

FWIW, my acupuncturist (specialized in fertility) never mentioned anything about only taking royal jelly for longer cycles.  He just stressed taking the organic in-honey form because he said it was the most pure/concentrated.  Oh, and I usually O’d on CD 15, or around there.  Except on post-mc cycles, it was later.

I took the royal jelly since November.  I had read about it before seeing the acupuncturist, but I was on the pill form.  I read some website that talked about the 3 month plan to improve egg quality.  It was pretty much royal jelly and CoQ10.  I gave up on the CoQ10, didn’t buy more when I ran out…And around the same time is when I saw the acu and he told me about the yummy organic stuff, so I haven’t minded staying on that since it was a little treat:)   I got pregnant in Jan & Feb with chemical pregnancies, and then again in March with this sticky bean.  I have often wondered if the RJ played a role in helping me go from nothing at all for 6 months to suddenly pregnant 3 months in a row.  Did it help?  I’d like to think so:)

ETA:  My acu was not Chinese- just to note….He’s a regular old American guy- lol…

He also has a lot of good info on his website -like you can take the “Making Babies” quiz to find out what supplements you should be taking.  He is actually friends with the author of Making Babies.

Welcome

@smokingpoint:  I ended up cancelling the appointment this morning! My A1c went wayyy down with dietary modifications (score!) and I don’t clinically have enough signs of PCOS so I didn’t have any reason to start Metformin, which is the reason I made the appointment. I was gonna ask then, but since I knew I probably wouldn’t get Metformin it wasn’t worth the $30 copay to me. Thank you for asking!!!!! If I have any other reason to go in, I will definitely ask her!
